Mingus & Coltrane

Post by dawman »

Scope FX/Mixing.

It’s all one pass recording in stereo. Too many cracks/pops when I use software.
Reason for that is use Kontakt for OrangeTree EPiano, PTEQ and Keyscape LA Clsssic Rhodes.
Layering makes software recording mad I think...🤔

dNa FX Rack using Pitch Shifter for random modulations.
I kick up an AUX Channel where the effect is, and kick up modulation rate simultaneously.
Great for synths or EPianos.

Celmos Tape Delay ever so slightly then SC Room 5.1.

Its my testing of the rig.
Next stuff I want bore you with 69 year old jazz hits

I do love these guys, but these days their music goes over like a Reggae Band at a Klan Rally.

I know, thanks.
I hate pops & clicks so it's limited/
Everything is 4msec/48k/64 samples.
Aint changing it to get more tracks, works great live
no clicks at all

Why I bought an Akai.

More to come

Stunning. Heart to heart.

Thanks gents.

Forgot to mention or record Zebra2 doing my old CS-80 sound.
dNa PitchMod really nails the old CS-80 Modulation switch.
It’s an actual old style 3 tabs that rock on/off that really made the CS-80 unique for that era.
I’ll put up a clip tomorrow doing a Kanye West tune where it’s really noticable.
Zebra2 is really powerful at nailing old analog synths. It’s why I don’t buy more synths.
The VSlope EGs make it very punchy and the greasy sounding gurgling Filters enable me to nail any synth out there.

I’m learning HipHop for my upcoming gig. Lots of fun.
Got a new battery powered rig I can take anywhere too.
Just finished building my stand using door stops, wood, laptop stands, clamps, gorilla tape and an old rack stand collecting dust.

I really like what I hear from DNA FX rack here.

Thanks YaYa,
Here's a taste of the CS-80's sound using those ancient tabs for tremolo like a Hammond B3

Nice! Love the blend. I've gravitated to the Pianoteq CS-80 ever since I bought it months ago and was just demoing the Electric pack. Always been satisfied with my stock Rhodes on the CP-300........until now! What's your take on the Pianoteq CS-80 compared to the one you use? I'd love to get Zebra and other U-he products but I don't have the computer to support it. Upgrade time is coming soon though.

It’s Orange Tree EPiano, famous for the extra long tines.
PTeq Steinway B
Keyscape LA Custom Rhodes.

LA had some great ideas for old school recordings way back when.

All 3 used, I add zones as I play.

CS-80 is the Yamaha synth in the Kanye for President track.
On the synth part dNa Pitch Shift is modulating the sound like the Tremolo tab on the old beast.

cool thanks. Just thought about the Arturia CS-80 model to see what keyboard presets it came with. Version 3 and it's still not very interesting.
Like so many babes, great to look at but nothing on the inside. :D
Might have to do some of my own to really give it a fair shake, though I hate to waste time on a VST esp when there are so many worthy synths in Scope.

I'll have to pick up the Orange Tree stuff but it requires Kontakt so have to drop some coin on that first. Prob after the new computer whenever I get around to that.....ahhhh so much shit to buy - not enough money

You got the free player already right ?

https://www.native-instruments.com/en/p ... -6-player/

Sometime I've gotta shell for the v6 update which is about 25% of the full retail. But Pedal Steel couldn't wait.....
