I don´t have one yet, but investigated because I think about buying one too for SCOPE standalone work.
The easiest is possibly buying a used older Lenovo W-model workstation w/ p.ex. 4th gen Intel i7,- W 540 / 541.
They offer the larger 15,x" screen (vs Thinkpad models), SSD usage and have PCI Expresscard 34 slot.
Also the earlier models using 2nd and 3rd gen Intel Core i5 / i7 have, but then you might be forced to use Win7 because Win10 doesn´t deal w/ every hardware config well.

W540 / 541 work well w/ Win7 x64 and might also allow installing Win10.
Lenovo has good support and you find all kind of drivers on their website.

And,- VERY important,- their UEFI (BIOS) allows user access to energy saving options and Turbo Mode,- all you have to deactivate to work flawlessly w/ SCOPE.
Not all the other laptop brands allow access to these "features",- p.ex. the HP laptops offering PCI EXpress card slot didn´t.

In fact, I´m waiting for the right one in good condition and for cheap.

HELLO

I have the thinkpad w540.
very good but i still have few random clicks.
but my xite is on rma so peraps the clicks are from that defected unit.
with laptops there is a thing that you have to considere :
the express card lost connection when you touch the cable.
in live performance this is potentialy a nightmare. or not...

nice day

I own an HP Elitebook 8770w, which I'll try with Xite if I find the time.
This machine is 17' fullhd, can be upgraded to 32G and two sdd/hdd.
They're pretty cheap as 2nd hand and offer expressslot.

When ?
SCOPE in standalone mode or when using ASIO and a DAW application together w/ SCOPE ?
32 or 64 Bit ?
Win7 or Win10 ?

Did S|C confirm your XITE is defective already ?

Does that happen w/ every laptop offering expresscard 34 slot,- or only w/ yours and/or laptops using expresscard 54/34 combo slots?
And,- is it by reason of the dimensions of the card or unreliability of the expresscard slot per sé ?

Getac X500 w/ Express can do DAW and XITE-1.
That’s very high end though, but that DAWg will hunt....

But the price ...

After I´ve read the specs, I´ve found out, Lenovo P51 workstation laptop offers the same proc in a case which, according to a test, offers very good cooling conditions for that processor.
It has Expresscard 34 slot and I see used ones, condition code A, w/ 32GB of RAM and 512GB SSD and Win10 Pro for about EUR 1.600,-.
https://www.lapstore.de/a.php/shop/laps ... 20HJS1C700

Lenovo P53 and P71 lack Expresscard 34 slot which is replaced by USB-C/ Thunderbolt,- but Lenovo P70 still has !

So, fastest P series workstations w/ Expresscard slots should be 51 and 70.

Leaves the question which one supports NVMe M.2 already.
Must investigate more ...

Hello Bud,

In standalone mode there is no problème. For me, without asio, there is no problem.
I have got little few clicks under win 10 64 bits with asio.
I don't know if it is the computer or windows or windows + scope.

I don't know yet if my unit is defective.

For the deconnections I think all the express card do this it is a fragile connection anb the scope don't like it stops.

Getac is exactly why I get my parts lists and have a 1U built.
Faster, cheaper and if I play loud with no breaks in the music, you won’t hear the Drone Motors I have to use for fans.

Hello !

Good to know.
With a laptop, I´d use it standalone mostly,- maybe a handfull of assorted VSTplugins in addition together w/ a "lite - on - cpu" host like Bidule or such.

Let´s hope for it´s not !

I expected such problems might come up.
I already wrap my head around how to optimize such connection.

Did (do) you ever use Win7 Pro x64 (or x86/32Bit) w/ your Lenovo W540 ?
Random clicks w/ ASIO too ?

let me be clear-

there are many reasons for pops and clicks in a system. in GENERAL, both PCI cards and XITEs in a properly running system NEVER have ASIO clicks, EVER.

some systems may have this problem, but it's not simply endemic.

I’ll buy anyone’s PCI Card as long as it has 15 DSPs.
I need a rig on each floor.
You got clicks & Pops ...shoot me a price.

What´s up w/ you ?
This is an amateur´s forum throughout.
No one here does what you do,- that´s why YOU got all the jobs & gigs,- even in Corina times.

You post in a thread w/ your own topic "Loptop for sonic xore xite-1",- no ?

The Lenovo TP P70 HAS: (1) ExpressCard / 34 mm
So, you don´t need Thunderbolt at all for XITE-1, just only the PCIexpresscard cable.

I hope your special edition XITE model manufactured by Sonic´s daughter company XORE doesn´t lack any features and that Lenovo model is a Loptop :D ...
... and doing what you, as a pro, need in addition to SCOPE/XITE functionality.

Go and buy that thing, then tell us if it works.
We amateurs really need professional guinea pigs like you and already thank you in advance for upcoming results.
