Scope 7.X Wishlist

Post by yayajohn »

I would really like the ability to assign a device to 2 simultaneous DSP's on the same slot. (Xite)
Prob not possible but it can't hurt to ask

. Bug Fixes Only - no new features or devices.
. STS Stability (if possible)
. Improved installer - consistent across clean installs as well as upgrades, XITE and XITE-1D.
. More intuitive CC Assignment & Recall
. Better diagnostic errors that lead to more chance of isolating an issue.
. Updated manual with consolidated hints and tips from Z and S|C sites etc.

I think I don't need many new stuff, either.

Some little things would be nice to have, though:

- A quick device search feature similar to the Windows search box or Spotlight on macOS:
Hitting space or something opens a window where you can (fuzzy) search for a device.
Then hit enter to load that device. Should work for inserts as well.

- Search feature for presets

- Switchable order of inserts in Mixers

- Ability to change the color of the background, modules, cables and so on.
If we could save those settings in presets we could change them easily (a dark one for the night and a light one for the day for example)

- Remote control of screensets (switching and maybe creating and deleting them)

Zoom in/out of Project Window.

Ability to create circuits off-line (away from hardware) in SDK, with verification requiring the hardware and license.

- Midi cc range promising feature working ! This knob that I dream it works since almost 20 years !

- Values showing up back again by leaving the mouse upon knobs.

- Mouse wheel scrolling up/down the project window correctly (and all scrolling menus)

- Any device following screensets

- Holger comes on Z, at least for reading.

I didn't see that one ! Updated manuals are essential for new Scope users ! And old users too : a SDK 7 full manual is really essential ! Ah ! If SDK pro users would have the courage to write one, I would pay 50€ for a complete, clear one !

50euro would begin to repay someone for that work. that would be a labor of love indeed.

Most of the sdk manuals are gone forever! Period...and the shitty thing....for a developer the most critical (perhaps....we don't actually know if all was documented...)

There are the pdfs that came with the sdk releases...that is what is there. Those, along with a reader put together by sonicstrav is all there is....the rest is just....putting in time to learn, trial...error....and accepting a lot is just gone. The CW days are over thus the knowledge that was there. I have tried to come in contact with several people over the years...no one has anything to share...people have moved on. A lot of trying and figuring out atoms is required...common sense...to boldly try what no one has tried before....

We even tried enabling a v3 DP for scripting purposes but older keygens for that are gone. As you see...on the backend....when there was stated that CW left a mess...that wasnt exaggerated.

Maybe some day someone will open a pandoras box...but i think anyone in sdk nowadays learned it the hard way....if i am wrong and there are some magic docs out there....PLEASE FOR GODSAKE...SHARE THEM WITH ME ALSO....I STILL HAVE THINGS I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO DO WITH THE SDK

The manuals that are there arent that bad...a lot of info is in there...but you realize it after a certain learning curve. And....find the sonicstrav docs! I will check later on where i have them and will put them up. Not up to date...but you will figure it out...if not...then sdk is just not for you. Sorry to say it in a blunt way.

YEAH...found it on the NAS's RAID....good to double backup whahaha

Edit: pdf seems to be compiled by sonicstrav, will change the pdfs name asap. SORRY for this mistake. Credits to Sonicstrav!

I guess someone owes Shroomz 50eu
Have you contacted Warp69? He mentioned he had some of the original DP Manual and uploaded some of its files in a link below. Also Wolf has info. Don't know how usefull any of this info is, but Warp69 is a oldtime developer who's still around and has some of the old files from long ago.

Wolf gives SDK tips here - http://wolf-audio.com/wad/scope-dp/scope-dp.html

Warp69 and another posted files with SDK info here - viewtopic.php?f=11&t=24353&start=40

EDIT- Fixed broken links .

I would love to see developer hooks that are accessible via JavaScript. Being able to insert and connect devices, get and set their parameters would be amazing. Given how flexible the web as a layout system is, and how robust web-audio and web-midi are getting, it would be pretty easy to create some bananas UI dashboards for communicating with the Scope environment if the hooks existed.
