Using a Fostex VC-9 and Pulsar II you get very low volume high frequency crackles (a bit like scrunching the plastic wrapper from a cig packet) and some degradation in overall sound quality from converters when VC-8 is clock master. If you set the Pulsar II as master the difference is quite noticeable with no crackles.

Anyone else had similar ??????

Yes: the clock generator of the Fostex unit isn't as good as the clock generator from the Creamware board, nice observation... what I believe you are hearing is called 'clock jitter.'
