Gateway does not work on xite properly. The sequencer element, the edits of the steps or the loading of a new preset does not apply unless you switch the project sample rate back and forth.

This issue is something to do with sonic core as the step sequencers on most old/legacy devices behave like this. So I just don't use the step sequencer bits.

Shame!

the insides of gateway are based on the sequencer section of ocean storm, and there were no reported issues with storm on xite, so i am hoping we can find the issue! When you say the preset doesn't apply is it graphically as well, or does the preset change on the gui but not the actual behavior?

Yes it is frustrating! It graphically changes, it's just the steps do not actually change/apply to the sound. The ad bits apply.

Cyan bell sounds brilliant btw.

And hopefully you should be able to sort it. The older devices, sb404 and Solaris have this issue with their step sequencer elements.

But the newer Mattomat, which is a full on arp/step sequencer hybrid, works fine!!!

Not to go off topic too much, but Mattomat still (x years later) only works on midi channel 1... not fine for me. This ruined my experience with that device and I have never touch it since. Yes, there are work-arounds, but this left a very bad taste in my mouth to this day :( The developer doesn't seem to give a sh*t, so why should I? You say "newer" so maybe it was fixed but I never received word of this if it is so...
Oh. Can't you just use ch changer?

I usually just use a new port for each device as we know how restrained midi is. It offers 16 channels but if you start sending a significant amount of midi info through a port midi can't cope (silly timing issue etc)

So never came across it.

Point is step sequencing can work on xite as proven with Mattomat, loop, Xtreme cut pro and from what I know, as i don't own it just yet, the step sequencing bit on storm.

I quietly confident faxi will sort it as he did the shruti supreme. It's just that he makes stuff with the cards so I'm confident he's just missed a quirk on the xite that he will correct.

Sonic Core... Give faxi an xite-1... :D

So I went for the Dream Bundle, and it's great! Love the drone machines, especially didgeridreamer and aeolian harp, still trying to find a place for the shruti boxes :) Also the cyan bell is very good, simple gui, but great sounds. Great work!

Quite frankly, I had been looking for a trance gate I can use live, and the gateway device will take that role. I already built a few, on modular, on an axoloti and on the Nord G2, but they're not so immediate to use with my live setup, and stuff like the Boss SE20 pedal is too expensive and with a different set of features than I need. This just works out of the box. Haven't had any issues like the ones some reported. Also nice that it retriggers on each note on, makes it quite easy to program different step lengths / resolutions. Also easy to stop :)

I wish it had a couple more features, like different AD settings for each channel, and a LP/HP filter on the master output, or better, one for each channel, with independent (or related, say link or invert channels for example) frequency / resonance / env settings. But I can add that in Scope, just would be nice to have in one device.

One thing I haven't tried is to MIDI map the step toggles... Would that work? Would be great to be able to create the pattern in real time :) If not there's always that Preset Recall device I keep forgetting the name of.

Sure, as I said, there are work arounds. I think the first experience you have with a device is important and developers need to be aware this. It can leave a very bad taste when things go wrong. That's all I'm saying.

With faxi's devs my experience has only been positive and he has an active (proactive?) roll when there are problems which means so very much. Some developers leave you feeling abandoned once they have your money in their hand. One might be a brilliant developer/technician but have zero skills dealing with people. You need both to succeed in life.
Your right it's great how swiftly faxi fixed the shruti supreme issue on xite

I was rather xited obout the gateway, so please faxi get it fixed.

I'll be getting the ocean storm bundle tomorrow and hope to confirm the sequencing bit it has works fine!

thnks for all the feedback and suggestions, we will look into the GATEWAY TRANCEGATE and try a work around for it,
I guess meanwhile you can use per example our free "Envelopers - 2 FREE Envelope/TranceGate Device"
http://forums.scopeusers.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=34535

Personally, I always preferred this device for trance gate, since u can feed it with midi, so you can use with more complex rythm variations , instead of the step sequencer.
It just takes a few more seconds to setup i guess :)
In Abletonlive I use this Enveloper plugin with "Arpeggiator" midi plugin, its a lovely combination! specially automated, and u can go as fast as 1/64 or faster..
ill make a small video on this actually, since its a nice trick for real fast and snappy trancegate effect. that makes this device my fav trancegate, and i have tried many of them specially in vst.

Edit: was looking around soundcloud and i found this sound-example I made with that technic https://soundcloud.com/ocean-swift/evol ... e-on-a-pad

Cheers,
Fernando

Sorry, my bad, just realized I have the same problem here (on XITE). Changing the triggers updates the gui, but not the behaviour of the trance gate.

I guess I wasn't paying enough attention yesterday.

That's cool faxi. I use cubase 4. Still it should work on xite first and foremost, that's the "now" hardware. :D

Just went to buy the storm bundle.
It's trying to charge for a shipping fee!
Need that fixing before I buy, I know it would be refunded but with the pound plumiting in value, I don't want to mess with refunds!
I've emailed sonic core support.
It seems to happen when trying to buy the storm bundle or the total bundle, dream and formula bundle it does not happen.

others have purchased without shipping. it's something that the shop likes to do. i'll alert the forces to fix it.
a refund wouldn't involve currency exchange it would just reverse part of the transaction.

btw-a message to support is usually better than a complaint here. i'm likely to see the message to support first. i just happen to read PZ a lot...
