I have a Pulsar II card and a Pwrsamplr card (really same as Luna, but HWSN refers to the card as a Powersampler). STDM cable works fine.

A while back, going from 2.0 to 2.04 Pulsar software made my head spin. At boot time it kept loading Luna default project and refusing to work. With multiple cards I couldn't figure out how to get right drivers and right software and right cards all installed and running seamlessly under Pulsar software, but did eventually succeed with Luna software.

I ended up running Luna software and still do, which has been fine. I get all DSPs from both cards, and all devices, regardless of which card's purchase bundle a given device came with.

Now I'm finally getting ready to the upgrade to Pulsar 3.x. I plan to go to XP Pro on a clean install all at the same time. (I've delayed the upgrade 'cause I'm waiting to see what probs and solutions come up in this forum before making the switch. Also still hoping to see Subhuman's XP tweaks page go back up!)

This time I hope to avoid the driver/card/software mis-match confusions I had before. I want to run Pulsar 3 software with of course both cards and all my devices, regardless of what card HWSN a given SW device is linked to.

So, I presume I should install only ONE driver (for both cards). Which one? Do I install it twice?

I also suspect I should avoid Plug and Play and do this manually. What's the trick, and what's the right install sequence? Should I remove the cards physically, or disable the slots in the BIOS while installing XP?

AFAIK. all you need for running any other CW card with Pulsar is the Pulsar driver.

My system (XP) recognized my new Luna as a Creamware DSP card and I didn't need any other drivers. The Pulsar software still recognizes all physical Luna connections and can use Luna devices in my projects.

did you install XP clean or as an upgrade? In other words, did you re-install pulsar drivers onto new XP install or did it just automatically pick up drivers which you were running on previous OS?

If you did a fresh driver install, did you do this during OS install or later? as plug-n-play or manually? Did you have to install the puslar drivers multiple times (one for each card) ?

This seems to be where I got into trouble on the 2.0 to 2.04 upgrade.

i have identical cards (2 PulsarI's).
if i tell Win (as far as i remember that goes for 98/2k/XP) that one card is Pulsar, it finds the other one automatically.

XP was a clean install.

I didn't install pulsar during XP install because I first had to download v3.

Only had to install Pulsar v3. once for it to work.

Later I added Luna 2 and as XP started it recognized it as a Creamware DSP card and automatically found a driver for it (Pulsar v3. W2k driver).

I still haven't found an STDM cable so I can't use it but Pulsar DSP meter already says I have 9 DSP's so I guess it works.

BTW. can anyone say where to find me an S/TDM cable here in Finland? Or a site where I could order it fast?

STDM comes with your card, or ask your local dealer. The cable should be freely available.

if no creamware dealer handy, and direct liase with Creamware seems too much trouble, just make your own STDM cable. All you need is a electronics parts store with a reasonably extensive inventory - any city should have one - and it'll take minutes and cost peanuts. I made mine for less than USD10. Works fine.

Not in Finland. I've asked the largest component stores in my city and the whole country, and none seem to have the parts.

That leaves only one option I guess - order from Digi-key in the US using my Debit card (don't have a credit one coz I'm poor and get my card frozen when the bank finds out (u're not supposed to order online on debit, although you can).
