Guys !! This is an incredible tragedie. Those crazy men who killed simple cartoonists are unbelievably stupid and mainly coward ! They don't attak army or protected politicians but simple people who try to make other people a bit thinking !! They had nothing more than a butter knife as weappon ! And they screamed that they revenge the prophet while shooting them ! Which muslim will agree with this ??

I'm completly overwhelmed, it's incredible, I don't find my words. It makes me seek. I'm disgusted. I receive this paper every week. Charb, Wolinsky, Cabu, Tignous and 8 more persons are DEAD !! They were almost like friends for me. I know Wolinsky and Cabu since I was a child. And Charb !! He was a so fantastic cartoonist, so cleaver ! It's a tragedy. I can't believe there is so simpleton people to believe that killing those people will make their god happy. How is it possible to believe this ? I don't believe in any god but I'm not sure that believing in god is such a thing. In this newspaper either. There was none religion which did not receive hard critics in their ugly faces. Not more for muslem, christians or jewishs, even Dalai Lama or any religion or sect, political party or any dogmatic thing. Anything which obey to any book, dogme or flag was ridiculised. They was just libertarian, they just tried to say to people to just think by themself, without any fucking dogma.

I just hope muslem will go down the streets and scream to their ugly face they are not like them. They do not have the right to monopolize Allah in the name of all muslem. I think it's the "better" thing which could happend, now. :(

The name "Charlie" is a tribute to Charlie Brown in "Snoopy" comics.

It'd be the best way to avoid Marine Le Pen as president...

Le Pen as president is not France. It's a France committing suicide with both hands..

Also the far-right doesn't accept satire itself. Too stupid to understand humor...

I already heard the (conspiracy) theory that Le Pen has sent these killers :D
It was expressed by a Dutch local leftie politician.
That at least is humor

I don't find it very amusing...
Where do you find the temper to laugh in a thread about the death of people?

A little restraint does not hurt.. 8)

You might find it tasteless, maybe it is, but it is in line with the principle of Charlie Hebdo: satire at every price and on every subject.

I find it humor to see people turn the world around to make it fit their (political) agenda.
If I could draw I would make a satiric drawing about it.

From your own statement above:

Just before I read your post I read about the mentioned Dutch leftie.
Good for a satirical note.
Just replace in my wrecked post my  for a  and all looks different already.
Geez.

Humour is valid tool even in this context. The best I saw yet was a terrorist with machine gun standing over his dead cartoonist victim who only had pen in his hand. Terrorist was saying 'Well, HE drew first !'

That to me is humour summing things up very precisely and poignantly.

Naming them "terrorists" is valid and in this context that type of humor is clever and suited.
Naming them "muslims" is not.

-> Dante -> Excellent !

Believe an old Charlie reader : if any of the dead Charlie illustrator could draw right now, he would have made a funny one about his own death !

The day follow 11 sept 2001, Cabu (a victim of wendsday crazyness) made the front page :
Image

The guy says "SELL !" And up : "Special issue - there'll be hell to pay !"

As you see, they don't have any limit but always intelligently, trying to trigger reflection in people mind, as any newspaper illustrator.
At that time, Charlie Hebdo was draged through the mud from all other french media because of this front page. Now, all french media say Charlie is essential...
The newspaper before Charlie Hebdo (in fact, it's the 'father' of Charlie Hebdo) was called "Hara Kiri", le journal bête et méchant -> the stupid and nasty newspaper because one day, an old man called them on phone and told them they are stupid and nasty ... They liked it.

It's not because satiric illustrator makes that kind of drawing that they are not sad about what happens to innocent people.

People from Charlie dream on a world without hate. That's why it's particulary disgusting.

Prohibit ANY religion on this planet -

Problem gone !

Belief is one side of the coin,- for the one how needs it ...
Profound knowledge,- maybe leading to pansophy,- is the other side.

Although I can understand your sentiments, never ever a state was able to succeed in this.
If you wanne make a religion big you should prohibit it...history is full of proves for this (Old Russia, China, Tibet, etc.).

Only modern education in combination with social justice (i.c. a minimal living standard) can do it.

Doesn't mean religion is the inherit cause of these troubles, otherwise any believer would be a terrorist.
It's more complicated...
