both cheap, the wharfdale is cheaper. the wharfdale is basically a clone of the behriger, which is a clone of mackie.

all three are made in china these days, so they will all work pretty much the same. i use little mixers like this all the time. they're crappy, but very useful. phonic is the company that makes them for almost every brand. i'd just by phonic, but i have both phonic and mackie myself. six of one, half dozen of the other.

Yeah..., I expected a answer of the kind... he he he… of course, they are low priced mixers, you cannot expect much from them, and I don't.

You have nevertheless cleared my mind about which of them to get, so I will go for the Behringer, it's more than enough for what I need to do, it is so simple.

I'll let you know how it works according to my needs. I just hope it is available inmediately...

yeah, go behringer or phonic for a cheap mixer, but don't spend too much time thinking about it.

How?

It was a faulty extension cable. I plugged in, the behringer's power flickered, and the thing never worked again. Good thing the behringer was the only thing I plugged into the extender.

did you put a meter on the power supply?

no, I just asked for a power source, was handed a socket to plug into. It wasn't a properly engineered place.. it wasn't really even a venue. It was the Japanese ambassador's house, and the guy that handed me the socket was the first secretary of the embassy. (naturally, I didn't point any fingers)

no, i mean the wall wart power supply of the mixer. it's the part that is most likely to die.

The Little Behringer Q502USB mixer has finally arrived.

First impression, good box and protection for the unit, unusually good cables, pretty long by the way, something you don’t see much nowadays, a robust unit in general with 3 years warranty.

It is so small that I can hold it with one of my hands, which makes me express some amusement.

Average good sound but don’t expect high definition either, but certainly good enough for the job I have to do. No fake controls or knobs jumps, pots work gradually and smooth as they should, jacks are rather high quality, nothing is loose not even slightly bended like it happens with so many mixers, even expensive ones, something that I dislike much.

Phantom power is not 48, but 15 volts in this particular unit. I think the information about this exacting item is a little misleading for those looking for a 48v Phantom. Nevertheless, I always use batteries, I find they give me a better sound, I guess it depends on the kind of condenser you are using. I use AKG generally. For me, so, it is not a problem.

The 2 band EQ sounds pretty decent and is good to either add or cut frequencies doing a good job for the main in channel. The one knob compressor is pretty good for such an inexpensive unit, in fact, it is rather excellent.

The xenyx preamp sounds very clear and it does a good job, for instance, for voiceover daily small jobs and the so. Guitar and bass also sound very clear, if you want kind of a vintage vibe clear sound, you could do well with it, most of all for second guitar arrangements.

Having Pulsar, I don’t think I will be using the USB connection much, I can’t figure out what for, perhaps I’m wrong.

I am much surprised at the general quality of all the components, the sound achieved and the included items and cables, after all this unit is a mere 100 USD.

I haven’t trusted the Behringer trademark for many years, but they have bettered their products a lot in recent years, at least, this is what people say and this is what I am experiencing myself, I am very pleased with this little unit.
