I have waited for this little beauty too long.
Finally a laptop with HD4000 GFX, 16GBs of RAM for sample and Express Slot on demand.
I really liked those Getac laptops, they are state of the art sturdy.
But 5-6 large...? I could get 2 x XITE-1s for that price. Defense Contractors always screw us.
But ADK is the place for a reasonable live laptop rig.
Even though the tech guy was telling me for live work the Express slots aren't very reliable, I never heard that from anyone here.
Are there troubles with the connectors...?
I remember Jurgen refused to release the XITE-1 as a 54mm Express as he thought it wasn't stable, so we waited a little longer for the 34mm option.
Any thoughts on this gem..?

they're easily dislodged, but they're quite reliable if they don't get moved around.

Depending on your rig, you can use a 90degree Mini HDMI adaptor/cable to minimize the possibility of the cable being knocked, or shaken out.
This is what I use, although the coiled cable is also heavy, and I can see that being an issue in some setups also. I have my setup as a laptop on top of a (fairly cheap) 2-rack case. Although I swap cables out when in my studio for a 10' straight cable.

This didn't exist when I got mine, there must be some new DSLR camera's that need these:

Thanks, I too think this shouldn't be a problem as even in my 1U the Ribbon extender and XITE-1 connector are loose but it's not like I bash around my gear. I do punish the keyboards, the rack is protected, and if drunks even approach me I am tracking them with 1 eye.

With a 1U rack PC, I'd think a 15-17" monitor and bluetooth keyboard would take the same space, honestly.
Or a touch-screen monitor, that could do both, and be placed anywhere on your rig:

I really want a smaller rig and keep the analog hardware in the same rack.
Maybe better off with a new rack without the Slant mixer as this sucker was cool a few years ago, but I hate lugging this bastard up steps by hand or on a dolley.
It's 2014 and time for an even more mobile rig.
Thanks for the ideas, helps out knowing other alternatives are available.
It's like a heavy ShockRack8U, when I bought it online I should have checked it's weight unloaded.
Oh hell it sounds great, I should quit crying. I chose to work w/o a crew and play what I want, so there's the price of quality sound.

I am way too tired to lug this around any more.
It's why I am going for the ADK and an un-Shockmounted short depth 6U.
After the gigs I want to party, not be dead from excercise.
No reason to not have a great sound using thw XITE-1 Solaris and SE-1.
The EML-101 and big racks are over...........finite...........No Mas.

Ladies and Gents,
A slight thread hijack, but does anyone have any ideas on a good 2nd hand laptop for an Xite-1 ?
My budget is 250 euros and preferably something which is tried and tested and has ability for large amounts of memory as i need to also run Reaper and Kontakt etc.....
I saw an ASUS F52Q for sale in my local 2nd hand shop today but the specs look poor....
Any suggestions on a good model number would be appreciated..
Thanks as usual,
Mark

Kontakt instruments using the lossless audio NCW tricks can use 40-55% less RAM than before, so 8GBs means around 11GBs from older libraries, etc.
That's including the 2.5GB resource hog knwon as Windoze.......

You say Win7 (or Win8) now is 2.5GB large ?
32 or 64Bit ?
Home, Pro or Ultimate ?
Are there chances to make it smaller like we did w/ XP and nLite ?

it's not quite that big, but with aero engaged it's a huge footprint for sure.

Win 7 x64 pro. I could be wrong but reading Kontakts memory available seems to think it's that big.
But Tom Jones use to wrap a sock around his Schwanz and fooled millions, so anythings possible with modern software.

like i said, pretty close to that with aero engaged...
pretty much every process claims memory space and windows claims a lot of it.
