Hi,

The Manual says these two devices generate sync. I am trying ti sync Ableton to VDat but no do. Do I need an external Syncronicser?

Thanx In advance

The VDAT sync is for audio word clock and linear position on a tape. Ableton sync is for MIDI tempo. They are different.

Unless you are trying to do something completely different and getting location in Arrangement view to sync to VDAT? Not sure I've seen anyone do this.

For a scope-generated tempo clock, there is a BCModular module that generates midi clock and play/stop, with minimal jitter. (Search this forum for BCModular, it is a free collection of modules to expand Scope Modular, and does not need Modular IV).

Its quite some time back, but I managed to sync VDAT to Samplitude Pro X via the ASIO clock.
The SCOPE ASIO 32 Out module has a clock input (white pad) connect that to the VDAT or VRC/VBRC.
I could not get it to work with Cubase or Reaper and I don't have Ableton.
Check to see if Live has sync in option for ASIO clock and try it.
It might work.

By virtue of using the asio driver ( of which ableton can connect to only one), it gets the asio audio clock.

Just to bump this thread.

Can ableton be synced to VDat?

Also can more than one vdat be synced together? I use the clock out from each daisy chained from the VCR but only the first VDat responds and the second doesn't slave. One VDat gives 32 channels but I need more and for them to be in sync. It would be great if ableton and multiple vdats could sync together so all re recording will be aligned perfectly

Thanks

I can't answer your question with regards Ableton, but VDAT runs into a big problem once you get past 8 tracks (at least it does on the XITE version on a 64bit machine).
You can connect (from memory) up to 24 tracks, but you cannot save the project with that many IO's connected.
The work around is you need to disconnect all IO's after track 8 and then it will save.
This may make it no good for your needs?

Maus I set a single VDat to 32 tracks and it records perfectly on PCI cards.

I'm just trying to get a second VDat to sync to the first for extra tracks.

Thanks
