Roland's making a 909 808 va emu. (not that we need yet another one) Will it be the last? Or is it impossible to put an end to 909/808 emus?

It's still popular as I hear it everyday in underground Hip Hop.
This one is suppose to be analog, which means it's a little stroage device with samples going through a decimator process, hence it must be analog.

I am pretty sure that Roland and Yamaha have diversified to the point where the budget for music is slashed, and probably has the assistant to the Vice President of Marketting as the head of Yamaha Music.
There's ZERO innovation, which actually is good for us, as we can motivate ourselves through the SDK or Modular.
Or just keep crying for Scope 6 to save us.

Personally I was saved the day I bought the XITE-1.
Once I master that, maybe then I'll take a look at Cakeland and Yamaberg again, but these guys can't even bring new technologies to their software development teams.

ok, i've had a number of each in my hands and they are cool drum machines.

a real drummer mostly always uses the same kit and has the same playing sound, if he's good.
Yet no one would say, drummer you better stop because of that.
there are simularities between a real drummer and a machine.

I heard the new emus, at least I can say they are good and versatile by edit possibilities

Roland appears to be back without Cakewalk/Edirol and doing non-computer-based hardware instruments solely again.

What's not clear is whether the new x0x's are analog or VA.
Some people get very hot under the collar about such matters...

The x0xs are digital. Try Korg for the analog bits!

by the way hubird GOOD drummers have choices in snare drums, tunings and cymbals. they don't always sound the same. a real drum also has an infinite number of sounds depending on how it's struck. GOOD drummers make use of these things. it just happens that most guys who can play drums, even those who can play drums pretty well, are not good drummers. they are just people who play drums, just as most people who play keyboards really aren't synthesists.

i like drum machines, too.

you're right about good drummers often using different setups.
I even know bad drummers who do that

A drumcomputer indeed has a fixed setup, but then it can change sounds radically.

You can't compare a drumcomputer with a drummer really, but if you do interesting thoughts may come up.
You don't wanne change Charly Watts as drummer of the Stones, although he's the drumcomputer of the group for over 50 years...

Btw, Watts is almost a drumcomputer, he just has a milliseconds delayed snare drum...

drum machines are like drums. it depends on who plays them whether the music is worth listening to or not.

I should do a value pack of 12, count them one dozen, 808 emus and another dozen 909 emus. All 24 clones in one sweet $1.99 pack downloadable from the app store. With an expansion pack of 100 different emus of the 909 kick drum. Make that 1000 since it's valentine's day.

btw I wonder if Roland has enough street cred to be able to claim an "authentic" emulation. I bet there will be industry (emu maker industry) lashback since if "the" emu gets made, it closes avenues for a bunch of people. Who'd want that, right... like people would have to start making instruments with actual new ideas. Well, actually no. I guess people can always make a prophet clone or a moog clone, maybe even a dx7's sort of a no brainer. There's space for more of those. We've only seen a few hundred emus of each so far...
