Subject: NI vs. Modular
Different sound qualities, equally good and interesting. Reaktor is more difficult if you want to create your own devices; it has slightly more "modules" compared to Modular. Reaktor is about $400 US; Modular 2 is $99 US if you already have a Pulsar card; or it's the price of an Elektra card (about $600 USD??). I personally think Reaktor can make "noisier" and slightly "phatter" music than Modular but that's just an opinion. Both are just plain excellent.

I think Reaktor is better simply because it can be fully integrated into my sequencer via VST plug-in and it actually plays in time. Modular synths that play loops or sequences are notorious for not dealing with Mclock messages and straying out of time.
