Hi,

I've got two of these A16 Ultra Mk II units - One is connected- both have MADI - I've not used MADI (yet) as the Xite-1 can't utilise this. There has been big discussion here for MADI amongst other here on the forum. What are the MADI options on the A16 Ultra Mk II unit by Ferrofish? - How many I/O do they allow for assuming the hardware was compatible? -

MADI is 64 tracks.

OK Gary-so the A16 Ultra MK II has ADAT 16 I/O = 32 tracks right? so if Xite had MADI on two could be utilised for 64 tracks - Is this correct Gary?

or is MADI something extra on top of ADAT?

MADI and ADAT are similar protocols.

ADAT is 8 channels in and 8 channels out.
MADI is 64 channels in and 64 channels out.

it is either, or....

OK Gary I can see MADI is hugely superior in that respect. With regard to the A16 Ultra MK II there is a MADI connection incorporated into the unit - I can't use this with Xite (yet unless you've got special news!) anyhow, what would connect to the MADI connection on A16 U mk II? - Another I/O box with 32 I/O = 64

Thanks Dante, that makes some sense now so if there were appropriate connectors on the Xite-1 that would provide upto 4 X 16 I/O A16 Ultra MK II = 64 I/O-

I don't think I would need that many but they would be there if needed. Its good to be aware of the technology even if it exceeds my needs....

Hi,

I was looking on the Ferrofish website at a new A32 with MADI & ADAT & AES3-
What a great I/O box - If the PCI cards are all hooked up [3] and the Fostex VC-8 [my first 8 I/O box] and Behringer ADA8000 [1st pre-amp-mic-line]-"give up the ghost" then this is the ideal solution for 32 I/O to utiise the I/O's of the cards and save U rack space -
