For those of you with some experience, as I have none with it, can you please tell me which of these two projectors would you choose?

The first one:
LG BE320

The second one:

Epson Powerlite S12+
For some reason there is very little information about this one.

I will use it with a netbook with max resolution of 1024x600, I think this could be an issue, but I have never tried this, just guessing. Just in case, I don't care much about the 3D ready option.

At first glance, I would choose the Epson.

i have a couple of Infocus projectors and i'd suggest them.

on ebay you can get a great deal on a refurb IN2114 which kicks butt on the ones you linked. i can get 2048x1536 resolution on the IN2114.

I work at the University of Copenhagen and they swear by Epson Projectors, saying that it's just better quality.

an important question:

what you wanna do with it? and what's your budget?
in our theatre it's mainly Sanyo for theatre or Panasonic for exhibitions/installations (same company though).

if it's for a show/performance, 2800 lumen might not be enough to conquer the lighting.
but yeah, for $500... the lamps for our beamers cost more!
as always, budget.......

Yes, they may be very good, but unfortunately when buying from Chile I prefer to get things locally because the few times I did it from abroad it was too complicated, took too much time, and at the end of the day it was sometimes more expensive, I need it now. I wish we had such prices here, your prices are ridiculously cheap compared with ours. The units I am talking about are about 550 USD each.

Well, this is a reliable source of information to pay attention to because they use it all the time. This is what I guessed myself, many have told me Epson is one of the best on reliability and urability, perhaps not in price. Thank you!

No no…, my need is strictly professional and much smaller than that. I am forced by the market to put up myself to the standards. You cannot longer go into a room and talk about multimedia projects without showing something really cool, as most people are doing so, so you need to keep up the effort if you want to be considered. It is curious, but technology is taking SO MUCH space today in our lives that if you don’t do something in that direction, you are considered a not very serious professional or just plain boring.

I will be using it for meetings of about one to two hours in which I talk and explain and expose ideas inside a big room, no more than about 40 to 50 people will attend them. I think 2800 lumen will be way more than enough for that. I want to get a 2800 light because these meetings take always place in lighted ambiences, so people can talk to each other, write, phone, and drink black coffee.

mine is my television. it's great for movies and often on for several hours, i'm typing on it now because my internet pc is my tv.

i'm sure epson is good quality. my guess is that the DLP units are all made by the same factory or two, as are the bulbs. just don't by the cheapest model or the most expensive, avoid supercheap no-names and it's probably all about the same stuff, except for the box and a few options.

It must be funny to see you typing in such a surface, so you see everything in a really huge screen…
Well, sure, I want something that will last and will be reliable, that is portable and that I will take with my tiny netbook to anyplace in the city, that’s the idea.

I think I will go for the Epson I have pointed out, because it is used in schools and universities all around, and this sounds good to me. I don’t need for it to be HD, just good quality for graphics, charts and text, and it seems that this one it has been pushed to do it very well.

Its price here is about 550 USD.

I’ll comment on it when I get it.

BTW: ¿Remember I was looking for a really comfortable and precise keyboard¿ I’ve got what I was looking for, a Packard Bell 51351, that’s what I call I perfect surface, you always know that you are doing and never miss a key. Cheers for everything guys!

I don't know, but just don't get the LG. Most LG's projector sucks. I think there's like only 1 from LG that's decent. I read this here http://www.thehonestreviews.com/video/l ... 5u-review/ and they said that the pa75u is good for a small screen around 80" is doable.

Hello there guys.

Well, I’ve got the Epson Powerlite S12+ we were talking about. I have tried it for an hour and have been fiddling around with it to see how it works with text, movies, etc.

It is meant to do exactly what is advertised it will. The guy that checked it for me said that in his experience, Epson is the best trademark for projectors.

The S12+ is not a projector to watch movies, nevertheless, you can obviously see movies on it in a pretty good quality, but it will not handle HD properly, it reproduces HD HD as it would with a decent .avi file.
For what I need to do, that is to say: multimedia presentations, project management, meetings, etc., it’s really cool. It is very simple to configure, no hassle, pretty light weight to move around. I was ready in about 5 minutes.

You can control your PC from it if needed. It switches on and off in one second, amazing… It has a pretty good set of tools and setting up options adequate for education purposes. It has two aspect ratios you can switch pressing the #8 in your command, which come in really handy for different kind of PC, I mean 4:3 and 16:9.

I can tell you something interesting, 2800 lumens can be misleading, as it is not as bright as you would expect for it to be because of the number. There are smaller numbers being much brighter, I don’t really understand why, I never god into this technology before. I thought this would be really bright, but it isn’t (while you have much light around in the room). You will do well nevertheless, in a normally lighted room, but with some washed colors.

I can take the S12+ far back about 5 meters and it looks crisp and light is still strong. From 6 meters and on, light gets slightly softer, but hey, you can still read everything very clearly.

It has many things I did not tried yet, I will get into its manual and see what I can do with this new little friend.

Well, that’s it, I want to thank all of you guys giving ideas and making me thing. Cheers again! Made up my mind and did the right decision, price, about 600 USD.
