I load the StereoPan tool into a stereo channel of the STM 2448 and the volume drops Can anyone tell me why please? I don't remember this happening before

Stereo pan ? Are you sure it's not the autopan ?
Here, the autopad allways droped down volume.
You can use the tremolo or midi tremolo to achieve same result (as autopan, I mean) by switching on the inv R channel mod button.

Yes, after a try, the volume drops down here too.
