Mod IV Delay files missing

Post by Roland Kuit »

I've installed the Modular IV numerous times and every time I miss the DSP files from only these two modules:
tape delay WDM
tape delay short WDM
How come and what to do about it?

the dumb question that must be asked...

are you running Scope "as administrator"? right click on the icon and choose "run as administrator". you should get a warning from windows every time you start Scope asking if it's ok to allow Scope to make changes to the system. you must answer "yes". this is the only way for Scope to have access to system ram and other resources. "eun as administrator can be made permanent by right clicking on the icon and choosing "properties". on the shortcut tabm choose "advanced" amd then put a check in the box for "run as administrator". if you do this correctly you should get the warning everytime you start Scope normally.

if it's not this, then have you looked for the files in Scope\app\dsp?

Thanks for your answers.
Modular IV version: 4.0.1721 for Xite-1.
The WDM files missing are not in my DSP folder.
Copying the sys files to app/sys/ doesn't work.
Copying the sys files to app/dsp doesn't work either.
Strange.

Is there a way to view the modules and see every file associtaed with them...?
I could then make a package that I know works well as I love the new Delays.
I especially like modulating an EQ Post and using SideChaining tricks.
You can really get that Fly Like An Eagle sound from Steve Miller Band really dialed in.

and NO luck.
Same message: missing DSP files, when added the above .sys-files.
I've put them in the sys-folder.

Try these.
I don't know of any other attached files associated with the Delays, but I had these sys. files, and I went through hell until Julian fixed these a couple years back.

I'm glad we're working this out. I am currently troubleshooting the same problem when I migrated from my WinXP 32 to my laptop Win 7 64. Can't really explain why but i really like the tape delays so hope there is a solution. We probably should consolidate a sticky/thread with the missing/fixed files so others can know. I spent a considerable amount of time last week searching the Z for the .sys files I remembered being posted and it turns out it was on Xited forum. Dopey me for not thinking to check there too. Away from my rig till Friday so I'll be following this thread closely.

I have the x86 versions, w/ some drivers that might be useful.
As I dig through old emails, etc. Anything that pertains to this I will pass along for a Tape Delay fix....I hope.

Please find the x64 tape delay files in the attachment.
an additional driver update is needed.
so please install the new driver, then replace the ".mdl" files in your
scope/modIV installation folder with the new ones.
finally copy the new tapedelay64.sys and tapedelayshort64.sys files to
your "/app/sys" folder.
the tape delay should work now. at least it does on my test machine. ;)

Always need to ReBoot after Sys files and drivers are added.

Happy Hunting..

And thanks again for your trouble, but this is a no go.
I have 2 laptops x32, x86 software only.
On both laptops I have the same trouble. Only with this 2 modules.
My latest laptop is x64 but no express card.
So when can we use Xite-1 with the usb3 port?

probably never.

usb is a layer that is too far above the os to be useful, regardless of bandwidth.

i'll doublecheck my system, but i'm pretty sure there's no problem with mod4 delays here.

I have some old Tape Delay stuff somewhere on my Internet PC in an email.
THis was long before I went x64, give me some time.
I assumed you were on x64.
I have had the XITE-1 over 4 years now, so there's lots of old OS versions and files.
I'll keep digging.

This has been very beneficial for me though as I found a BETA of something I cannot speak about but might be able to share.
So this has not been a total waste.
Check back Chief, and maybe I will find the x86 files that were the very first fix, just before going to x64.

I was really busting their balls about this back then, so we'll get it pretty soon.

Cheers.

Tomorrow I will have an other look. Thanks!
@Gary, I know, usb was wishful thinking.
However, nothing to do with this.

Julian Schmidt @ S|C is the guy who knows the tricks for both x86/x64 installs.
Send him an email since you are an XITE-1 guy, he has more ecperience with these than the cards probably.

Good Luck
