I have a friend with a bunch of the modern modules and I must say it is the best sounding synthesizer I have every heard. If I didn't go into electro-acoustic, I would be doing that. I have never heard a virtual modular which sounds so good. He doesn't even have a keyboard connected to it (although there is a midi module available for that). He has no interest in playing in the traditional way.

In the documentary, a couple of people say you can't touch a virtual synthesizer. I guess they never assigned a midi knob to a controller which is so easy to do. They are ignorant in that regard. I guess it's like a religion. They have their faith in hardware.

Just got the IDOW Hardcore Edition in the post yesterday and watched it last night. Really well put together documentary and a worthy addition to anyone's video collection on this subject.
