Proximity plugin

This plug sounds cool in concept.. I checked out the demo,

But I can't help but think the mix got totally effed up in the process. I went back to the original, and though it doesn't sound wonderful, it sounded better than the post.. Am I just listening with the wrong pair of headphones? To me, I think the snare got messed up, and then everything just took a nose dive from there.
Not to say the plugin is bad. It just didn't seem to be used correctly.
