Vocaloid Avanna

Nice progress since the first Vocaloid back in 2003. Due out next month from Zero-G (after many delays).

Since Yamaha owns the Vocaloid technology and Yamaha owns Steinberg, I wonder if there will be a tie-in with Cubase eventually. The last Vocaloid demo I tried didn't integrate very well with Cubase other than the sync as I remember it.

It should be integrated so that it can extract phonemes from a guide vocal (like siri) to create vocaloid phonemes and vari-audio derived from the guide voal to determine the vocaloids pitch on those phonemes.

Basically, you record a guide vocal, and after processing its rendered on playback sung by Avanna's voice !

it works much better in Japanese, just from the way the symbols represent sounds. you type in the words, play the melody in via midi and go.

i've seen a couple of last year's Hatsune Miku concertsand they were pretty darned amazing, live band with holographic Vocoloid animated singers...

I had such high hopes when I bought Lola

At last I thought, a woman I can train, teach and do exactly what I want.... easily.

Shows that you shouldn't buy your women out of a catalogue

no, buy them from a reputable dealer so that you can see what you are getting.

Great idea.

The usually tight lipped Zero-G is saying that this demo represents an older version of "Avanna" and that it should be better when it's released. I hope there will be improvements to the GUI as well.

I thought the original and subsequent Vocaloids sounded muffled. I didn't want to have to EQ it to death to overcome that. This one sounds better to me. Looking forward to new demos of it. Seriously considering this one. I think with all the autotuned voices that people are ready to accept a synthetic voice. It sounds real to me in places. Of course it is derived from samples. Maybe they will do a punk version.

Update:

Seems to be a rumor that the voice of Avanna is from the singer Sharon Browne from the group "Celtic Woman."
