Hi All,
Anyone using Softube Dynatube Guitar Bundle? I was wondering how authentic the sounds were, or even their usability. WHY? Because my guitar amp has seen better days and and a decent new one far outways the cost of the Dynatube software.
Any thoughts would be very welcome.

it's great, but it's not for heavy sounds. if you use it with your pedals, it definitely sounds like a mic'd amp. unlike guitar rig and others, it's really not about processed sounds, but rather the basic sound of a clean or crunchy amp only. yes, it's pretty authentic sounding.

I would assume, rather than use pedals, that one could put effects in the signal chain after a chosen amp within scope or my DAW. Am I correct? That would certainly give me a lot of options. I'm not looking to do any heavy stuff. May be a meaty blues/soul riff at most, if you get what I mean.

sure you can use all the Scope(and native) stuff. distortion is always best in the analog word, though. for that, i'd use a pedal. you can mix and match...

Although I should have said 'putting effects in the signal chain pre guitar amp'. All said, looks like a great option, at a great price.

I have a POD HD so the Dynatubes don't get so much use now - although they are also great for fattening up keyboards too. I really like the Dynatube Bass actually - wish they'd do more of those. I think these are a good purchase even for none guitarists.

You may want to wait a couple of weeks just to see if there are any Christmas sales on at S|C before committing.

I use the Dynatubes in line after Digitech ValveFX (valve pre + FX). Its not often I use all of the models, mainly just JM and it sounds great. After getting it I went and remixed a whole bunch of old tracks with it. I now always use them on all elec guitar tracks.

I agree fully garyb about analog distortion being better, maybe a combination of valve and solid state. The dynatubes can add additional after that.

The Bass dynatubes are useful as well but not used on all bass guitar tracks. I experiment with them on synth bass from time to time.

My signal chain for bass is typically MXR M87 Bass Compressor (set just so i don't clip the A/D), SCOPE XITE DI input, Vinco compression, or multi-band compression, and then a selector between the Dynatube Bass, and a Celmo Bass Amp Model. The Dynatube are REALLY great for clean bass tones. The Celmo does the deep dub work. I also use some modular stuff with Flexor's Fuzz on the bass, and other waveshapers. And synth stuff.

But the two bass amps, do the bulk of the work, and my actual bass "amp" (an ashdown firefly), just receives on the return input, so it's straight to the speaker drivers. The Bass Amp Models are that good.

Adern's Mojo would be a valid option, too, if you're not after a particular amp model.
As it can do a simultaneous parallel-serial trick of the 2 channels, it's probably the most detailed to tweak

there's one candidate in the native world worth mentioning: David Scuffham's S-Gear
imo it's absolutely on par with the Scope stuff... believe it or not

Thanks to all for replying. Looks like this may be a worthy and usable purchase. Good to know about the bass plugins as well, although at first I was just thinking of how to make good use of my Fender Strat. But bass is probably my next adventure. These will definitley go on my wish list, may be Xmas will have some surprise specials. I'll look at the NI and Aderns as well for comparison.

Thats a good trick, since the Digitech ValveFX outputs stereo when using delay/ chorus FX, I then feed left aned right through 2 instances of Dynatube. Harder to do on a 12DSP system but much easier w/ XITE-1D.

actually, the Mojo is a very good distortiion amp....

Downloaded the Adern trial. I'll give it a go this week. Pity I can't seem to find a trial version for the Dynatube, although the sound examples sound very promising.

to get a trial key, install Dynatube.
put a Dynatube in the routing window and when the registration window opens, copy the request string.
send the request string to support with a simple message requesting a test Dynatube key.

yeah, that's what I love Scope for... try it with a real amp, tho
my secret weapon is to always sneak in a bit of the clean guitar Signal, regardless of the processing path.
but now I must have a Daisy Rock guitar as she says: astro-blue is it's color...

I can definately recommend the Dynatube bundle for all things guitar related...I tend to use mine with some pedals up front and the Dyna for power amp dirtyness...

Recorded using the Vox emu for both rhythm and lead with a Wampler Euphoria for grit on the lead part..
