Hello,

I have done something crazy. due to the lack of enough DSP (i am hooked on the DAS plugins as inserts.. and the spaceF mixer).. i bought a Eventide Eclipse, its arriving on friday.

However i wonder if anyone has any experience with it? i am going to replace the scope reverbs i am using with the one, will it match the SC-Plate and the RMX160.. or the MasterVerb Pro am in deeply love in all of them.

Any experiences?

Used the Orville the 7500 and the h8000.
You will love it.It may not exactly replace those, but its the best Outboard efx for electronic music ever!

Thanx for feedback. Its running OS 4. So latest and greatest.

I can accept it to run the masterVerb on my 27dsp system. the most important to replace is the RMX and SC-Plate, since they are demanding and are using DSP i need to use for dynamics and EQ .

I guess i will have to adapt. Or perhaps invested the money in the board you have for sale!

Ahh thats good about the 4 os! I suggest really sitting down with the box for a couple of days.Its mega deep but very rewarding.Buying my board also works

Actually.. i was really considering it!
but then i got a deal on the Eclipse for 850Euros, which was just too god to let go!
And i really think my wife will withdraw my wallet for a serous amount of time if i shell out 600 more euros

I will absolutely dedicate the time needed for the eventide. Its going to be used heavy.

The Eclipse is an amazing unit.
I love mine -have had it for a couple years now.

However, you'll probably find yourself using it for a lot more than reverbs.

It has the harmonizer algos of the bigger H8000 as well as many of the presets from the newer stomp boxes.

However.. I am wondering. The device has two dsp blocks.. Can i use analouge and digital input at once, and use it as "two" effect units with separate output? Or is it digita OR analouge?

it's probably both, but identical...
it'd be great if you could chain it digitally in-out with your card.

I believe the analog and digital are in parallel, but I'll have to recheck if any of the modules are splittable. I doubt it.

That's how they do it on the big jobs.
I had hardware reverbs and you'll notice even digitally connected the effect wraps around the audio instead of adding a Tail, Even with a pre delay added you'll still notice that effect, and it's what really gives the sound an actual sense of depth in a mix.
You'll be moving your drums up front or back in the mix, etc.
Definately worth using.

But hooking it up using the Analog I/Os sucks on the cards. I tried a Spring, an Oberheim EchcoPlex, and a Super Prime Time Model 93, definately a no go. SP/DIF or AES/EBU, even ADAT was better on an Alesis Q20....

XITE inputs are clean, better than the card's. there's less noise due to ground also.

Well, i dont have Xite.. but i have a AES/EBU available on one of my Pulsar2 card, which i intend to use for the eclipse.
Since i am doing all the mixing (routing all tracks from reaper straight into the scope mixer), i will also do FX send directly from the Scope.

Looking forward to explore the device, and finding out how to make it work in the scope. Hopefully i can let the Scope reverb rest a bit now, and give some room for some Flexor modular fun together with the eventide.

I think according to the manual that its possible to do mono separate processing in mono. which means all i/o probably run in parallel.

yes, i'm sure it does that. that's very typical since the LXP days.

using an external reverb is no big deal to Scope. it's all realtime, so no issues. the fact that things like this can be done is part of the reason to keep using the cards, imo.

Btw.The Eventide boxes have some of the Best Converters i have ever heard so when you are not using it for efx in the aes/ebu loop you can use the analog outs unprocessed to take advantage of that!For final Mix check or pre Mastering.

By the way, the following yahoo groups link may be of use, there you can find some useful info and patches etc, but you will need to join yahoo groups in order to get access to the files and docs. Let me know if you need more help getting on there but it should be quite straight forward.

The eventide is in the rack.. And i do not regret the buy.. It do just fine in replacing the sc-plate..and more. I was a bit afrad that its edit capability wasnt that good.. Since its not compatible with vsig.. But it can be edited way beyond my needs.. And two effect blocks gives great combo possebilities.. However i wish it was more effect blocks.. But that is where scope shines ..

The Eclipse is like Eventide's greatest-hits box, since it has many of the Factor footpedal presets as well as some of the H8000 blocks.
The H8000 is WAY over the top, and WAY too expensive for most people, but it's amazing in how many blocks can be tweaked.

But yeah, the Eclipse married with Scope is a great combination.
