Hi folks - having some trouble re-activating Solaris on my new machine - says my original activation key is invalid - any leads?

well, maybe.
sometimes the flash rom on older cards will become corrupt and then an old key might stop working. this wouldn't necessarily be fatal, but it might take a new key made via the request string. Alex is on vacation. it might be tough to get a new key right away, but if you need one, write support, identify yourself and give the serial number of the card and the Solaris request string and i'll see what i can do to expedite a key(assuming that's the issue).
what os is the new machine?

Hey Gary - thanks - it's Win 7 32bit.
It's cool, I'll wait a while, let Alex relax, and send the string, no hurry here. I've recently borrowed a keyboard with AT (which my ancient controller lacked), so my first thought was solaris
Music making has been very old school here for a year or so (since the old Scope machine went down) - which is where I live as you know, but we got an old upright piano in that time, and I've been smashing out Monk on it every day, and it proves to me that a house is not a home without one.
I'm just trying to get my head around having a cool system again. I've started by making some sax quartet arrangements in Finale for my brother who lives on the other side of the country in the bush. Evidently there's a bunch of saxophonists out there

I'm giving them some lesser-known Monk tunes - "Ask Me Now", "Reflections", "Something In Blue", maybe a Monk blues too. Beautiful forest and rivers up there - I like the idea of some bent sax ringing through the trees.
Best wishes to ya Gaz, W

Wayne, i just wanted to be sure that you were installing the v5 version of Solaris from here:
ftp://sonic-core.net/software/scope5/plugins/ZARG/

Well playing around with the Zarg plugins on my Xite-1, I've encountered a couple of bugs regarding Solaris (also I got a BSoD running Ambientv3 but I was loading presets quite quickly so I'll let that one go)
- I'm getting this weird dsp error message : "Can't find DSP file JBCtrlSh VxD - Please check installation". I'm running Win7x64 and I'm well aware of the whole zarg 64bit issue (although I never had to deal with it until now). I have ALL of the files loaded in App/Sys and App/Vxd...
- Sometimes when changing presets I'm being asked to register Solaris again, however this time the key I entered in previously doesn't work anymore (I'm hoping the 1st issue is the cause for the 2nd)
I probably should be asking S|C directly but I'm reaching out here beforehand because I'm sure that Gary is being swamped with activation duties and well NSA2 deal is so sweet that I don't want to start complaining right away about not getting it to work

did you get the 64bit files from here?
ftp://sonic-core.net/software/scope5/pl ... ions/Zarg/
i didn't link to those in the first batch of orders, sorry....
vxd files should NOT be used in win7/win8. those os require sys files, but the system calls them vxd....

Just a note:
I have some of the smaller ZARG synths running on XITE-1 and one of these is Ambient v3.
Never had a BSoD !
It just plays ...
Win XP Pro SP3 on XITE-1

I am encountering BSOD's when changing performance and shaper presets on Q-Wave.
win 7 pro 64 bit, Scope 5.1 xite-1.
its happened twice now!
Hope this can be overcome, loving the synths!
Back to testing.

I downloaded the sys files from that location. I keep on getting the annoying dialog box when either loading QWave or Solaris however after a couple of clicks acknowledging that it can't find the necessary files, it seems to work (barely under certain presets and only if I caress my Xite

)
What files are no longer needed then? Perhaps it would be best to simply create 2 seperate zip files, one for x64 and one for x86, because I'm confused on which files I need to keep and which ones may be causing problems. Can anyone running Solaris (without issues) on Win7 x64 simply take a snapshot of their SCOPE/App dir? The command on DOS would be `dir /s "C:\Program Files\SCOPE\App" JB*`, or something of the sort.
Thanks!

how did you end up with an app\vxd folder in win7 64?
are you running Scope "as administrator"?

Well the ZARG_Q-Wave.zip archive contains many *.sys and *.vxd files, and the same for ZARG_Solaris v5_0.zip except only JBCtrlSh.sys and JBCtrlSh.vxd. Since these are zip archives and not installers I just extracted the archives in to the SCOPE install directory and voilĂ : I have vxd files, sys files and 64 bit sys files in the same dir tree.
I didn't try running as Administrator though, will try.

Running as admin did the trick!

Thanks Gary, didn't know it was the same as with the SDK

vista/win7 and win8 ALL require Scope to be in Administrator mode to access system resources like ram. always run Scope "as administrator", it's part of security in the os.
