VDAT & a Wave editor

Ok.
I have just started to use vdat to record my final mixdowns with the thought "i'll get a better sound than if i record the final mix back into cubase" well, thats what i keep reading about, how vdat just seems to have a nicer sound than most daw's.

Anyhows. When i go into settings and choose my wave editor of choice (select wave editor)
When i click on the edit buttons next to each vdat track nothing happens, i would assume what is supposed to happen is the wave editor (in my case soundforge 10) would open up with said track loaded in the wave editor window.

For me it's not such an issue as all i'm using vdat for at the moment is to record the final stereo mix (track 1 & 2) and then once that is done i then load up soundforge and convert the two files into a stereo file.
But i may like to start using vdat more in the future and would like the function of opening the vdat tracks into soundforge with vdat's edit buttons.

Any ideas?

Here it works with wavelab element 7.

But not at all because I have an error message like that : "file used by another application" but wavelab is opened by clicking 'Edit'.

I think it's because I runs wavelab with ASIO but I can't do other.

I have cubase using the asio driver. I have soundforge using the wav driver. As two programs can't use the same driver simultaneously.
Anyhows did a test with cubase shut and soundforge using the asio driver.
Still nothing happens when I select soundforge as the wav editor and hit the edit buttons next to the tracks in the settings in vdat. :(

the problem described here has nothing to do with asio driver.
The problem is that the edit buttons aren't working, they works unless you have tracks loaded. Not such a big problem anyway, especially if you use it to record the final mixdown.
About the asio driver sharing, there is a good virtual driver called rearoute, it needs reaper to work as the central application, but you can share the asio driver with other applications in realtime and together.

Yepp, and just another reason to spend 50 bucks for a DAW that brideges old x86 plug ins and speaks to the outside world.
But it's over bloated at 7.8MBs...........

They work for me but only if the track contains wav file.

I suspect what is going on is it's a matter of xite-1 or pci cards.
The scope software was originally written for the pci cards and the ported version for the xite-1 has a few things broken ( even though you get a lot more overall power)
It's a transitional thing going and I expect that scope 6 should rectify these little issues as I imagine it would be written for the xite-1 foremost, if not exclusively.

no, it's not related to xite or scope v5.1.

i tested it under scope v4.5 with pci cards, it is the same.

I never used that edit button before, so never noticed it.

Your right. It isn't. Stupid assumption. Or maybe not entirely.
Some info on vdat xite-1 operation can be found here.

Also I have found the answer over on the xited forum.

Now how does one "release" a tape. Hmm.

if i remember correctly, it's the same way as on a real ADAT, something anybody would have known oh so many years ago when VDAT was new...

press stop an extra time...

at least i think that was it...

No. That literally empties the vdat completely.

Going to the studio today so will confirm if it's the extra press of the stop button to "release" the tape.
