I can't even imagine how the hammers on that thing works.. it does have a cabinet in the back so I assume the strings are where they usually are... so the hammer action is transfered all the across the rotating keybed and middle slide out section?

The pic looks older - black & white, rollers on every piece of furniture, etc.
But the poster on the wall, which displays not only cheesy quotes, but uses at least 4 different fonts to do it in mixed italic/bold, unfortunately suggests a more contemporary time frame. So maybe the keybed is simply a MIDI controller?

The only information is the title - invalid piano. I suspect this instrument was a custom job for someone unable to move or a patient or whatever. Retronaut is a treasure trove of weird photographs from years gone by.
