I know most of you that have bought and used creamware/sonic-core PCI cards have had to build your PCs. I made a recent post about salvaging my setup and got aln Intel DP35DP motherboard as it is well known for working nicely with SCOPE cards.

I planned on rebuilding it this week but now I am looking at my worn out case and figured I would do some more shopping like buy a new case that will hold 3-4 hard drives, a full size scope pro card, 1 uad PCI, 2 uad PCI Express, and 1 tc powercore express. All of that can get pretty hot so I need a case with a good airflow path but I also want to make it quiet.

So, in everyones experience in building audio pcs with scope, what PC cases and fans/cooling methods do you recommend? Or, what is the best way to make it cool and quiet. I guess i just want to do it right if I am going to build it, with no regrets after the fact. Thanks in advance!

I've built several systems for friends, and lately I've been using these and am really satisfied with these products!

For CPUcooling, I would check ThermalRights and Noctuas products.

if you can depending on what processor you have on my machines just for the dsp hardware

i use zalman cooler flowers with an over head beam where the fan connects to and on the beam you can add 2 more fans to cool the pci cards whats good about this there is no noise from vibration compared to heat sinks with fans attached

and a fan mate 2 which i can turn the fan to the lowest setting very silent

i also look for second hand carillon cases as they are rack and look good and are very queit

i keep 3 systems aswell a win 98 p4 3ghz 6pci intel with a dual grafix card 3.1 sfp for the mod 1 modules and mod and i use this for the old
pc programs that dont work on xp this has a pulsa1/pulsa2/luna dsp card

my second system is a p4 xp3 3.4ghz 6pci intel with dual grafix card and scope 5.1 with pulsa2x2 and scope pro card

my last system is a i7 xp3 with 1820m emu sound card this runs my native plugs and sequencers

i use the scopes as trigered modules and final mixingfor the i7 comp

Never looked at another case since. Has a big fan on the side, which can be set to 3 different speeds. Hard drives have their own compartments.

I know that the dp35dp requires a 2x2 pin for the the mobo and the asus board I am replacing is a 4x2? I need a new power supply it seems and the 2x2 power connections seem hard to come by unless I am missing something.

Are these coolmasters able to power this intel board?

usually the 4x2 is really two 2x2s....

That's how it looks but no matter which way I tried it I couldnt get it plugged in.

it should seperate.

there are adaptors made going both ways...
