A proposal for a new forum in the Z

Hello there Z friends! :)

I want to propose a new forum if you allow me:

Movie, Instruments and Music Reviews

The reason, well…, true..., we are getting older, and the older we get, the more we appreciate things. Yes, the older we get, the more we can really know what is what and come up with more and more intelligent views and this is very interesting. One of the ways in which people’s wisdom can be enjoyed it is through reviews, as they tend to reflect so much more than just the thing you are reviving. Through a review, you are rather sharing a way of living and understanding life, it is such a wide open way of communication.

Here, in the Z, your particular way of writing, understanding and seen life it is for me very appealing and even very attractive, I’m referring to all those old friends of always with such a particular, rather deep view of life and a very sensitive and artistic perspective. (Don’t think that this is so common, particularly the respect that there exist between us, in a virtual communication platform). I sometimes feel so identified, like in tune with some of your views, that reading you it is really an enjoyment, an open book of partnership and constant learning, as you open constantly my mind to new frontiers, like Star Trek if you like  I would love to see what comes up when you do a review of anything you like, dislike, have got new, used or whatever.

The name I’m proposing sounds cool to me because encloses quite a few things that we all seem to like a lot and that are reflected through many disperse writings along the forum, most of all related to ART. Nevertheless, I am not having the idea of restricting our reviews to only “movies”, “instruments” and “music”, I include in my idea, books, food, travels, Plugins, or anything you may like to make a review of. Of course, the name cannot be eternally long, so that is why it is only including this above mention 3 items.

I am excited to see what Gary, John, Skwawks, xite-1, Ken, Astroman, Jimmy, Alfonso, Wayne, Chris, Dante, Siriusbliss, Cochise and so many other acute, sharp and thoughtful people that I cannot remember now, definitely interesting candidates for a good reading, will come up through their reviews.

Well, it may be great for some, crazy for others; it is just a humble request and I promise that I will not feel uncomfortable if you say no to me, so please, give your opinion, and let see what John thinks about it, which of course, it is the final decider.

Cheers! :)

I would be interested in music album reviews or lists of peoples top ten albums / bands of all time and how those influences manifest in thier Scope productions. For example, I've posted compositions inspired by (or direct covers of) Jon Luc Ponty, Pink Floyd etc, produced on Scope.

I think it's a great idea. we all have different tastes and it could generate some interesting banter. would be good to know where people are coming from in their own musical worlds of ideas.

I would. I could try them out in Solaris using the sample Oscillators.

Could also be interesting to me to setup a tool to convert them in K5000 spectrum format and see what result it gives there ...

What is the actual format of your file ?

they are 256 samples they need to be 128 samples for the sounddiver progam to dump the corect waveform to the k5000 or k5/m

i have both

but you can just resample them to 22.5khz and they will be 128 samples in size and are correct for dumping to the k5000

i have to do this for dumping to my blofeld

https://rapidshare.com/files/241060959/d50_rom_dump.7z

here is a link to the files i just sent to xcite live

they are the rom dump of the d50 but they are in c4 and have been uped to 44.1khz

then there are 4 uwave wavetables that have been stretched so that xcite for live can use them as rotor wave files for pad sounds

Hi Nestor,

It seems that as the platform (and our community) matures, the Off Topic forum is becoming one of the most trafficked parts of the site! :)

Generally, I feel that the list of forums is too long, and some of them (e.g. ASB/Klangbox) are getting pretty dated. Maybe I should combine some, or move some into a new older section...

Regarding the ASB forum, I would just keep that one as it already host ASB and Plugiator/Asx and should ead some new traffic with new ASB II line from Ferrofish that started with the B4000+.

I think, once Jurgen would have released a synth ther will be some new traffic rising ...

Hello dear John :)

Yes, I have not noticed it because I never get into those particular forums, but I too think it is a good idea to reduce several of them into a single one.

And for this one I'm proposing to create, well, don't know, I found the idea interesting enough to ask for it, but you are the one who has to decide finally. Cheers
