Any tips ...
The board is too large and cannot fit due to the HDD mounting box (White Antec Housing)
Any suggestions besides buying a new compy? (MAGMA and stuff?)
Thanks in advance,
Yogi

you're either going to have to remove the hard drive cage, if it's a model that has two cages or you will need a new case that will fit a full length card. there's nothing else possible if you want to use the card.

What about all the "Magma" box shinanigans I read about here ?
Current setup is Luna3 and 1 SRB (Just got it) .... I also want to buy a used Pulsar2 (15DSP) - so I will probably have those outputs ....)
Is there anyway to do it with the SPDIF or ADATs ?
(I don't want to start playing around with MoBo's and stuff ... not a computer TechHead ... )
Just wanted to add about 30DSPs to my Luna ...

Yum YUm !
Wanna try out some of the Modular patches in it ... and Luna can barely handle a propper mix-through ....
Any suggestions?
Thanks in Advance ...

Yogi

Go for a larger computer case. Those Magmas are not cheap, a case is.
You can use everything you have, Mobo etc. but you 'only' need to get everything out of your old PC and put it into the new case, that's it.
A screwdriver will do it. Spent the saved money for Ram, HDDs or other things of life !

Sweet! thanks ... (!)

(Wasn't sure if that's a relevant option ...)
will look into it soon ... My "restart Button" is broken on the old case anyway ...
Have a Great Day,

if you don't need a new power supply(like if the old one works), you can get a case, even a rack mount case for no more than $100.
if you don't feel like you can follow directions and turn a few screws, then any local computer shop should be able to do the job very quickly for no more than $100.
just be sure you get an case that will fit a full length PCI card. i found a nice 4 space rack mount case for $70 on ebay.
if you don't know what you are buying, let's be sure of what you have first. what model antec case do you have? if you don't know, you could post a picture. that way if you post a model a picture or a link to what you are thinking of buying, someone can help you with an opinion.

Thanks Gary,
I have a white (Sound proof) Antec Case (Heavy Bastard ...
I DO intend to seek out help on this one ... I'm not a big Hardware Know-it-all (Regarding computers) - My Ex-GF used to do that ...
Speaking of her ... she bought thos Antec Armor casings ... cool - but not soundproof I think ...
I will talk to the computer experts at the shops near my house ...
On that topic ... to feed two birds with one piece of bread - Do you have any advice regarding analog "Noises" (When I move my mouse and stuff) ..
This has been discussed heavily here before ...
I think I have a MAtrox Video Card (Again - I trust the Computer shop to figure this one out) - but I get HDD and screen noises when my Luna3 card is on low volume and I push the gain on my external Analog amp (Between my Luna and My Monitors/Headphones ....
That's something that used to drive me crazy - Until I started keeping my internal leveels at Maximum volume ... (Sometimes even with a compressor on the Luna Mixzer output ... )
I can search again - but I don't remember the solution (Besides not using analog outputs.
I have a cheap Behringer 3 way monitor splitter or someting .... btu I don't think it is causing the noise ...)
Thanks again,
Yogi

I'll basically ask them for the best "DAW oriented" casing ... (The closest shops I have are not Music shopes ... more Gamer oriented ... but I will see what's on their lists ... should be OK ... )
I'll try to spend the day inquiering ...
OOOOO ... can't wait to start mixing Mastering with this baby (Thoguh this is the SRB card I bought - and does not have any licenses .... Need to buy a Pulsar 2 from the North of Israel - with Modular 3 and other stuff .... YAY! )
After that I will start bugging you about good Mixing & Mastering Plugs (Or about compatibility of UAD and Scope) - If I have any money left ...
Thanks again Bros,
P34CE,
Yogi

why don't you think that a cheap mixer is causing noise? it's a ground problem and the issue exists between devices, possibly. you may need a transformer(hum eliminator) on the outputs, but that would be a last-ditch fix.
ALL electronic devices have some noise. i'm assuming you are talking about exccessive leves of noise. in my system, i can hear a slight amount of processor noise, but i must turn everything up VERY loud to hear it. certainly, i can't hear it during playback.
using a compressor is important, because playback systems can't playback the dynamic range(the difference between loud and soft) of live sound. compared to live sound, the quietest sounds would be buried in noise, when the loudest sounds were near clipping. at the same time, if the quietest sounds were above the noise, the loudest sounds would clip. a compressor makes the quieter sounds louder, and the louder sounds quieter. this limits the difference between loud and quiet and makes it easier to listen on a normal playback device like your stereo or walkman or car stereo. i don't see this to be a good way to get rid of noise, as a compressor can't tell the difference between noise and music. when the quiet sounds get louder, the noise floor also rises. recording hotter with the compressor might help, but you shouldn't need to do that if you are using 24bit audio. is this noise on the inputs too? if it's only on the outputs, then it's just an annoyance. don't use a compressor to fix the annoyance, please. you'll make a mess of your music.
if the ground problem is not between your monitoring system and the computer, then it's probably in the case or power supply. changing the case and power supply may make a world of difference.
well, looks like you need to be a "techie" at least a little bit. this is your baptism.

please don't go to a shop and ask for that!
first, there's no such thing.
second, you're gonna pay extra.
slow down. ask for a case that will hold a FULL LENGTH PCI CARD.
make sure that you don't get a flimsy one. get a heavy duty, good quality case. still, in the USA, i would not pay more than $175 for a case and power supply. you might consider a rack mount case. a 4 space ATX case that will hold a full length card should cost less than $100.
i strongly advise you to buy the case online. people here can help you.
or do it how you wish.....

Bless you guys ...
Been digging into the "Noise issues" for a long time now (On this forum) ....
I still suspect it's the Analog outputs .... (I've done some playing around) .... The Amp doesn't make the noise if the cable is not connected to the outputs ....
I will get a reliable power source for safety reasons ... (Just like I am choosing my acoustic materials for my room VERY carefully ....

(Not sure I even trust BASF melamine ...
Looking for a clean and environmentally friendly solution (Found a few - but they are hard to get here in Israel)....
Anyway ... I will look into the Case options on the other Thread (I am also a subscriber of CM and Future Music ... So I know about the deals abroad (Closest is the UK I think ....
And Again ... You guys ROCK!!!!
Can't wait to play with all these DSPs !!!!! (Prepare for alot of "Modular Nagging" and other plugins ...

)
Now I am off to read the thread you recommended ...
Thanks again,
Yogi
