Is the A16 Ultra out of production?

Post by wouterz »

Is the A16 Ultra out of production? It's not in the Sonic Core online shop any more (neither at Thomann) and there is of course the A16 MK II now. But it's not listed as a discontinued product on the Sonic Core site.

So, do the Z-Link connections on the Xite-1 have any use now? Other than connecting a second hand A16 Ultra. I hope that the Z-Link connections will be replaced by a MADI port so you can connect 4 A16 MKII's to the Xite-1. Are there people out there that did not upgrade to the Xite-1 yet because it has less IO options than a PCI system (with three cards)?

It is not that I need one (I have two A16 Ultra's), I'm just very curious about new IO options for the Xite that Sonic Core might come up with.

yes, the A16 Ultra is out of production. there is another z-link AD/DA in the planning stages. right now, the A16 is made by Ferrofish, it's the Mark 2 model and it has ADAT and MADI.

if there were enough A16 Ultras on order, they would make more...

My personal choice would be a 4-port z-link hub/router with MADI interface. Users of multiple Scope systems like myself have been hoping for something like this for years. Would also make a nice companion to the A16 mkII and through avoiding the AD/DA by keeping it purely digital might help keep the cost down.

...and encourage additional sales of A16 mkII's, Scope cards and XITE's :D
