A16u plugged into Luna?

Hi

Just got an A16u and while I wait for my Pulsar to arrive with 2 ZLink I was wondering If I can plug this into my Luna to at least give me 8 channels?

I know the 2496 IO takes its power from the ZLink on the Luna so thought i'd better check before just pluggin it in.

Thanks

yes, you can, afaik.

i would avoid a hot swap(connect with the power off), just because the pins on a fw cable are close together and that'll avoid accidentally having a pin with power touching a data line.

I think he can't. It's stated in the manual of A16U. Z-link can be either 2x at the same time or nothing. Not just one z-link. They need to work both because of some sort of phase alignment or snychronization. I can't recall what was it. I know that i tried to run just one z-link via my (now gone) pulsar and it didn't worked. Two at the same time - worked without any problem. Maybe i did something wrong back then but i doubt it.

Since Luna has only one z-link i am guessing that it won't work.

hmmm, maybe so. no harm in trying though, no? no damage from using just one z-link, right?

No, i doubt he can burn something. They are simple z-link connectors after all..
