does the new soniccore a16 ultra have the exact same electronics/converters as the creamware ones?
if not, what are the differences?

I don't remember where, but I thought I remember reading about a difference. Maybe it was incompatible with newer zlink on xite or something?

Yeah, here it was, not compatible with xite zlink:
Analog In/Out balanced XLR (2 channels, +4 dBu), 1 x AES/EBU interface, 2 x ADAT In/Out (16 channels in + 16 channels out), 2 x Z-Link (16 channels in + 16 channels out - not compatible with the Creamware 2496 converter), MIDI In/Out/Thru, Wordclock In/Out, PCIe, XTDM

The creamware converters have allways been pretty "dark" sounding to me. The cut off a little to early to my taste. Just wanted to know if it was different with the new converters

I'm pretty sure that incompatibility statement on SC's XITE-1 page only refers to Creamware's early I/O box called the Luna 2496, picture on following link

Both the older Creamware light blue colour A16 Ultra and the newer black Sonic-Core A16 Ultra are identical except for the colour change, and both of those are compatible with the XITE-1 Z-Link interface. I am sure this is the case and has been stated somewhere else on this forum...but if in doubt then drop SC a quick email to double check. Unless someone else can confirm.
Correct me if I am wrong though, and better to get it confirmed by SC.

yes, the incompatability is with the luna box, not the A16 Ultra.

can confirm

I am using a a16u(creamware) with XITE-1 by Z-Link and there is no problem with it.
