Odyssey 2010

Post by dawman »

Its FAT....
You need an XITE-1 to use this patch.
12 voices is fine, and the MVC C settings are tailored per preset.
For example, Mono patches are really thick.
Steel Drums are also FAT. I use the unison detune so 12 voices is important.
The finest sounds though are the Monophonic Sync;d Leads and OBX style PolyStrings.
They sound as fine as my old hardware.
That alone makes the XITE-1 worth every dollar spent.
Assafs class is also worth every dime....thats where we have learned to mimic synths.
But Modular allows to add new features unbeknownst to the old hardware.

Thanks Brotha' Men.
Under the Oscillator Sum section you'll see 3 of Roys 2 x 1 Switches.
These switch from Osc Saw to Osc Pulse. Noise to Ring Mod, and SawSync to Pulse Sync.
As it is right now this is basically a 2 x Osc.synth, even though there are 4 x Osc's.
But adding Roys Mix 2 to replace the Saw Pulse 2 x 1 switch means you can have a mix of 2 Oscillators instead of switching between them.
Now use the Oscillator Inserts by SpaceF and you can basically turn this ARP into a Wavetable synth, a Waldorf Wave, add any of the CZ Rezonator Osc's, and Flexor, SpaceF and Bowen RD Modules.
For even more options take SpaceF's Filter Insert and replace the stock 24db Filter and use any of the dozens of FIlters available...
So you see how addicting Modular is once you can understand the signal flow and options....

Yeah, I may do some reverse-engineering on this one.
I'd like to turn on the extra two audio channel outputs and get crazy.

Hi Jimmy,
can you explain why these patches are XITE-1 only? It's not just a matter of DSP power is it? It'd be a shame if XITE-1 and Scope users aren't able to share patches. We're already at risk of becoming fragmented as the take up of Mod IV is far from universal. (I think this would be less the case if there was an upgrade patch from Mod III to mod IV, but that's for another thread ;-) )

I need someone to verify that this synth I made in XITE-1 using Modular II will work on the cards and XITE-1.
You will need SpaceF's BBII, JBowens RDII Modules and Flexors RD Modules.
Once I have established the compatability I will add the finishing touches and make some presets.
Right now i am just using a few of the distortion presets I learned to make in Assafs class.
But they sound pretty sweet, considering this is actually an ARP Odyssey emulation to begin with.

Gytars in Modular are starting to come along.
Whats cool is using SpaceF's Filter Insert and throwing in a Comb or Tube Filter...
Sweet-ish indeed.

So, is this more fun than just running a saw through Dynatube?

I need to put the SpaceF modules into my Vista Internet partition, but it loads OK with 10 voices...12 voices too much for 1 x 15 DSP card. My XP Music partition is screwed up, I'm putting on Win 7 32 bit for now, all the shit needs reloading....too much work to do.....

Nice of you Jimmy to share your stuff......the latest video looks intresting but have only watched first 10 mins......I am there in the background.....

In Spirit the Strav Lives on, and thanks for letting me know it works.
I have tons of versatile presetrs on Mod IV version. I can easily swap a few modules and then tweak the presets a little and they should work well enough to post below where a mod patch belongs............

WOW! I know this is an old thread but I LOVE this ARP patch particularly the OBX Strings and the Steel Drums presets! Brilliant programming. I just started learning Modular IV, so this is a good one for me to study. Thank you so much for sharing.

Hell I wish I still had just a picture of it.
I could rebuild it quickly.
It’s where I learned about the Pulsifier and Diode Modules.

Dawman; there's also some other patches from you which you can see in the file browser on the right of the patch, let me know if you need anything.
