Running multiple cards without STDM cable?

I know this is probably a silly question but is it possible to run 2x Pulsar 2 cards without them being connected?

I was told technically it would work but problems would occur once load was split between the 2... yet i have tried it and my system registered 12 DSP yet no devices will output sound. So this is probably due to lack of STDM connection?
Im hoping the new card works ok you see.

Ive ordered 2 STDM cables from Sonic Core but its been over a week and they havent arrived yet.. i was getting impatient

You're going to have error messages very quickly ! And it won't work.

If you have two 6 dsp cards (12 dsps), you don't need 2 cables : one is enough...

Jopo: untill you run out of connections. Install all STDM you can, I'd say.

You 're certainly right ! In fact I have a 4, 3 & 6 dsp, so I never needed 2 cables... Sorry... Spoke too fast...

I used to have P2 and 2 P1's, and it just wasn't workeable with a single STDM. What was worse, the P1's only have a single STDM connection, so more couldn't be installed. Sold both P1's, got a Scope instead =]

[edit] IIRC, a single STDM transfers 128 channels..

Thats pretty much what i thought but thanks for clarifying.

Ive taken the other card out for now.. hopefully the cables will arrive soon.

The DSP meter did display 12 chips but when i loaded devices no load was registered and nothing made sound
