A picture ( or two ) is worth a thousand words. Heres my studio in 2 pics - no fancy software required, just stock MS Word.

Yes, nice integration.

My system is a mess, and I don't bother explaining it to anyone, since there are now about 4 different configurations I use.

Well at the start of this I had the following design goals, most of which it meets.

1) Load up a project (Scope + Cubase + Reason ) and not have to dial up anything on outboards to match or change any cabling.
2) Everything in Digital domain, so no AD/DA conversion loops apart from incoming audio record source ( vocals, guitar ).
3) Low latency monitoring of incoming record source with a seperate mix back to vocalist headphones such that they can have the music / own voice volume & reverb balanced to thier taste easily without affecting record level / dryness. This eliminated the need for a seperate hardware input mixer used on more primitive DAW setup.
4) All input dry and FX added later ( except electric guitar ValveFX and Dynatube - I figure FX to be an integral sound of the guitarist not needed to be changeable later ).
5) Good capacity to balance load between DSP and CPU ( easier now I have quad core instead of P4).
6) Be able to use the diagram to easily explain setup to any interested visitor.

All above worked, except 2) above, because of a few clicks coming in from ADAT connection from Kenton Plugstation. Someone suggested I needed wordclock, which is probably the case, workaround is that a couple of the Kenton plugstation synths come in on Analog connection rather than ADAT. I cant notice any quality loss ( using LunaII analog inputs - converters here must be good quality ).

Yes, for most part, my PCI side is pretty well set for tracking/mixing/mastering all within one main project, including some external controllers from guitar, MIDI guitar, padKontrol (drums), and small keyboard.

But now that I'm also integrating the Xite, things have expanded to start incorporating all the synths and effects for tracking (similar to incoming submix), and then sending back out to PCI side for mix.
