Sequencer as modulator

In Modular IV, I've tried using a sequencer to modulate cutoff frequency of a filter but it doesn't work. Is this possible? Is there a certain way of wiring it up to work? I just took the output from a sequencer (I tried several types but none of them worked) and plugged it into a mod input of a filter (Ladder filter in this case).

Any thoughts or tips?

Thanks

The MVC C from Roy is much easier to use, but if you must have a sequencer do you have a Ramp pre Sequencer Module?

I also use external Ramps and LFOtoMIDI Patches so I have everything in the project controlled. Usually all the Cfm/Cutoff Freq.'s are my fave too.

Thanks Jim.

I tried a clock module plugged into the sequencer and although it made the 'lights' blink on and off in succession - it didn't modulate the filter. I haven't tried it with a ramp, though.

I have tried the whole shebang with flexor modules - a flexor ramp into a flexor sequencer which in turn modulates frequency cuttoff of a ladder filter. It worked perfectly.

So why doesn't it work with SC sequencers?

Francis - I'm using a Mac keyboard which I use with a KVM with my Mac. There's no printscreen!

I will have time Monday to mess with S|C's Sequencers and see wassup.
I used Roys because I could name them and I love the Glide amount per sub division.
I'll let you know....
Are you busy at 2200 Hour GMT Sunday..?

Thanks for checking, Jim.

2200 GMT is 0100 for me - I'll be fast asleep as I have work in the morning :( I was tempted to join Assaf's classes but the timing isn't right for me at the moment.

perhaps this hints at the way you should route ? you'd use the control sequencer here I think.

Thanks, Francis.

I'll check it out later and report back.

Francis, thank you. That is such a great help. :)

Francis,

I just tried your patch to modulate filter cutoff and it still didn't work :(

Please try it yourself - use your patch but substitute the sequencer you used for ctl SEQ B1 to control the frequency cutoff of a filter with a single oscillator going through it.

Hi Auricle, i had this up and running during the weekend, using scope 5 on a PCI card. I'm at work at the moment but i'll post a working example in a couple of hours.

I tried your first setup and that doesn't work for me either :( I've no idea what it could be - I set it up exactly as you have it (minus the keyboard - I use a physical keyboard but it works okay).

Ok, i just read further up you have flexor.

do a simple setup as shown below. see if you get any values out.

if its dead, and your vsti clock is blinking and the step indicator is moving, its buggy. if it shows values, the filters mod input is bugged...

and adjust that clock divider a bit, 24/24 is just stupid :D

Cheers NtN, I owe you a beer.

I checked the output of the sequencer and got nothing.

Remembering a bug I had with Xor a while back, Assaf told me to re-install Scope 5 as sometimes files are overwritten that tends to break things. So, I just re-installed Scope and it works great!

Thanks to all for their suggestions and help and especially to NtN that gave me the inspiration to fix it. :D
