Here we have a Lexicon Blu ray player. which is someone elses player put in a fancy box and a nice 700% mark up. exact same innards. exact same test results.
$20 chunk of aluminum and some machining does wonders for the output quality!

Harman owns Lexicon and I am sure since the PCM96 just isn't selling well they sent the design to Lexicon and said make this happen.......!!

Harman as the owner of AKG seems to have spoilt the 701 cans by removing a small piece of adhesive tape from the inside.
The mod adds a heavy bass response rendering the cans useless for serious work, but pleases the mp3 folks.
They probably just added an new connector, changed the color to black and now sell the original (unmodded) ones for twice the price as 702.
There's a timely coincidence with D. Pahliwal becoming the new Harman CEO...

I heard Lexicon went downhill a long time ago. I have a couple of the old reverbs I would like to sell because I just use software reverb now.

And which ones would those be..?
MPX's or PCM's...?
Lexicon never went downhill they just couldn't top the 480L's and 300's.
But the MPX uses the Didgedesign knockoff chips inseted of the LexiChips.
The MPX's are fine for live work but the cheap ones have less editing which isn't a showstopper.
I wonder if their BluRay's have built in verb...?

It's called ODM - Outside Design Manufacturing.
It could've been a licensing deal.
Meanwhile UAD is also doing licensing to build Lexicon emulations:

MPX 100. You can edit it with a computer but they don't make any software for it so it would be a hassle to figure it out.
