Hello there Z People!

Have a great 11th Anniversary!

Here we are again! The imminent 15 of January in just a few hours away, telling us that our great Planet Z forum and its amazing community of restless geeks is reaching already its 11th year of existence!

Congratulations to all of you for still being here! And certainly, a special acknowledgment to John Cooper for being the human recipient of such good things to happen through his never-ending enhancement and upgrading of the forum, and particularly, for his great vibe of always.

Of course, life has changed many times for all of us in such a long time, even the platform that brought us together into this virtual space has become something quite different than it used to be, bigger, better, extraordinary. I wish I could afford one right now too! A bit of patience there…

How much music has been poured from and onto each other ears… wow! We now recognize people’s music easily, because we have leasten to each other for so long that well, the characteristics of every composer becomes obvious to the listener.

The progress in terms of musicianship in Planet Z is pretty obvious after 10 years of getting into it technologically, artistically, compositionally, instrumentally, musically and in terms of mastering too!

The platform has gone well beyond the expected, it is all a musician could ever dream to have, and quite frankly, in excess… I cannot see how someone would use all this power at once… But well… I would like to try, you know?

Best wishes for you all in this “New Planet Z Year 2010”, may you learn a lot more in here, continue your efforts and endeavors.

Again, congratulations to the great heart that Gary is, always answering people’s questions just out of good nature, you have saved many, many asses if I may say Gary, from technical complications or disinformation!

And these days, my first Pulsar1 turns 10!!! Also, today, I ordered 'Giving up The Ghost' by Stephen Hummel (wavelength) as a birthday present to my girlfriend. I wrote him a message, and he replied back, that he too still uses his old cards.

Q: How do you combine mental sanity with using 11 years old computer hardware?
A: It was manufactured by Creamware!

And I see no reason why, in ten years people should not say the same about the Xite1. The king is dead (twice). A new King has been born. Long live the new King! And John Cooper!!

Mine has been manufactured 11 years ago, in 1999. When I first got it, it was kind of wow… because it is the “Plus” version, and few people had it, I felt so advanced by then… I still enjoy it much as you can see and hear, and I think this will be like that for quite a few years to come…

Well, it’s really is amazing. Some of our members left life, they’re gone like Dorumalaia, others came to life like several members’ children, yours for instance, Wayne’s, and several others recently… Some here have gone through terrible accidents, or lost their dearest friends like myself. Some started very lucrative businesses, joined the army, bought new homes, build new studios, got married, were stolen their whole studio and started all over again, travelled the earth, recorded their first album, became successful programmers like Alfonso with his remarkable Mojo creation, well wow…, so many more things…

We have one thing in common, all of us, and this is that these varied situations have been shared in the Z and we have records of them in all these pages, some very painful, others exiting to the most, others joyful to the highest degree … just like a reflection of life itself.

Of course, you sit down facing a computer, and well, there you are connected to the internet and you start reading and writing like mad into the Z. Those guys you read about are people you don’t know, and they don’t know you either, but somehow, there is a strong connection through music among us. In fact, I feel that I could not connect with friends, family or other close fellows as I do connect with you in some areas of music. There are topics that nobody, but an electronic musician, can fully understand. So, if someone says: “I have lost 10 of my latest songs already finished and mastered and my backup have gong corrupt, both my HDDs failed on me” sort of thing, we feel real compassion for that guy, because we easily put into its place, we understand him. Or for instance, when the excitement of a new system comes in, we do understand like nobody else on earth what this guy is feeling when loading many more Masterverb plugs! Who cares about that except you and me?

Sometimes you would, out of passion, tell somebody around your world, how good a new modular patch synth you have just build sounds, but that means nothing for them, you better shut up soon, or you will bore them much. You need to connect to the Z, make a review of it, upload your creation and wait for tens of answers telling you, with the same level of passion, what they feel and why, about your synth. Oh man, this is truly appreciated! You say: “Hey, they speak Pulsarian language”.

What I also like a lot is that there are people from absolutely all around the glove: USA, South Africa, South America, Jerusalem, China, Korea, Japan, India, Europe all together, to name just a few, and that’s great. That makes things very open minded, and you better be open minded otherwise, you’ll be kept behind in here!

Music also comes from absolutely all corners of life, you can get to the music forum and there you have a potpourri musical salad and can taste what you like, anything, from classical to country, to jazz to techno, experimental, effects creation, meditation, relaxation, anything…

I wish I had more time to read and write lately, but I cannot longer do it, I don’t have those many hours I used to spend years ago. Things have changed and you have to adapt to the upcoming times.

I know about many of you that have had the joy of meeting in the USA or Germany, Italy, etc., and this is also amazing, as the forum has been the bridge in between. Some cool partnerships have come to be also, thanks to the Z forum as far as I know, like for instance the case of this fantastic bunch of people: ADERN

Through the years, we have also given some important help and support to each other through PM, may it be for business reasons, musical needs, to sample an instrument on demand because somebody needs it played in a unusual way, record your voice for a project, buy and send physical instruments like guitars for example, sell CDs or DVDs from opening artists in a given country, and so many other things, this is great! Congratulations for this human side guys!

Do you know that several big market studies have been made through the internet and that Planet Z was considered to be one of the friendliest sites on earth in several of them? I remember well one of them, but don’t know where it is now, that was quite a few years ago, perhaps about 7 years ago. The study stated that we were communicating in an intelligent way because every time there were problems between members, we would deal with them in a friendly way, and that we don’t use bad language either, which makes reading a fresh experience. That’s pretty cool, isn’t it?

I think that if we consider the influence that Planet Z has had in our musical life for a moment, we will agree that we have a lot due to this place. We have received lots of things here, lots of benefits through this many years…

Thank you for this great forum!Its a pleasent ride and i recieved lots of help over the years.I also have a Pulsar1 Pro from 1999 so high five to a rock solid product still rocking.

I had a look on the net right now, but couldn’t find anything yet, except another Planet Z site with no relation at all with ours. I first got to know about it here, in the forum itself, somebody mentioned it but don't remember who. We are also getting older by the way...

If somebody remembers something, please give us a hand. I expected to find something about it in the Z now, have searched sort of “planet z best site” etc., but there are too many answers and little time to read that much.

I barely remember to have had a little conversation about it with Ken… Remember Ken?
