No sound from enabled Pulsar2

Hi,
my Pulsar2, Scope4.0 stops working after about 3 months of usage. I have had the same problem before and it fixes after fresh Win XP install. After installing more programs onto the machine, at some point, Pulsar stops working. No erros but no sound. I have tried resinstallation of drivers but with no results. I am using lots of different USB devices (digital camera, external HD, webcam) which sometimes seem to have caused problems.
Now I can not get the board working any more at all and I would not like to do this every 3 months reinstallation again.
Any ideas/hints would be very welcomed
