If it was my company i'd charge double.
I find it more problematic that countries allow private companies (lawfirms etc) access to ISPs IP databases to actually connect the info they get from google/yahoo to a certain individual. That is more of a threat to privacy than search engines charging for search data.
But as long as internet is dictated by RIAA/MPAA this is how it's going to be.

Under the so-called 'Patriot Act' here, I just figure the NSA has backdoors to everything anyways.

laugh all you want but RIAA/MPAA alongside US Lobbyist has enforced this on Sweden, of course with the backup of WTO (sanctions has been mentioned if piratebay.org weren't put to sleep etc.).
They are also suing shitloads of ISPs all over here since they allow its customers access to such hideous sites. They win thru in alot of countries, like Denmark, but lost the first round here in Norway (they just appealed).
Swedish IPRED and French HADOPI are one thing (as if they aren't bad enough), but for a record industry to fight for censorship just shows how incredibly imploded their brains became.

All it takes is a little research on how the RIAA is funded. Follow the money.

A lot of these guys are closet pedophiles, so they're probably looking for kiddies instead of boobies.
I mean, getting rid of pedophiles is a good thing, but it's not excuse to sit there waiting for me to type 'binladen', or F* Bush, or whatever.
