I am planning to build a new DAW for my bandmate.
He would like to have Win7 64-bit but for the moment we'll have to stick with Win732 bit and 4 gb RAM because there's not yet a 64-bit driver availabe from sonic-core.
Proc is Intel i920.
Card is Scope (15dsp).

After I did a search on this forum I have come up with 3 mobo's. Which one would you go for?

- ASUS P6T -> 205,- €
- Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 X58 -> 275,- €
- Asus Rampage II Extreme x58 -> 309,- €

Any advices welcome!

There are Intel and Supermicro boards out there as well, why not one of them?
On the other hand I can't comment, cause I haven't used any of them.

yes, i usually go intel, for a basic, stable, cheap motherboard(that's what's required for maximum usage with minimal tweaking), but the rumor is that intel was stung by some bad chinese parts recently. i would expect that they rectified the situation by now.

otherwise, try the cheapest one(although i'm sure that the gigabyte would be a good choice, too). why buy features that won't allow you to do more work?

in either case, be prepared to update the bios. gigabyte only recently offered a bios that allowed the motherboard to work properly. this is the danger of buying the very latest tech.

I have not yet found the Intel DP55WG. No dealer here who has this mobo.
Maybe I'll go for the Asus P6T.

I read that Sonic-Core is working on a 64-bit-driver. So we decided to wait until it comes out (hopefully not SOON ... and go for 64-bit (because of ram-hungry plugins like, omnisphere, kontakt 4, trillian, bfd ... and therefore we'll try to use more than 4 gb)
