The plague or virus in the Ukraine has 10 times the mortality rate (attributed to) normal swine flu. It may signal what's soon heading everywhere.
On October 29, the Australian web site zik.com.ua reported that:

"Western Ukraine was hit by a severe epidemic of unidentified influenza, tentatively diagnosed by doctors as viral pneumonia. The number of dead has climbed dramatically. Doctors advise Western Ukrainians to stay home and use preventive medicine."

On October 30, Jane Burgermeister's theflu.com reported that:

"More than 30 people have died in the Ukraine as a result of a mysterious new virus that has an affinity for the lungs," according to Swiss reports. Ukraine's Health Ministry said the virus' origin is unknown and showed "no signs of mutating to become more virulent." So far, 40,000 people were reported sick and 951 hospitalized.

On October 30, healthfreedomalliance.org reported that Ukraine's Health Minister, Vasyl Knyazevych, said two laboratories diagnosed 11 of 33 samples tested as "highly influenza A/H1N1." As a result, he considered declaring a nationwide quarantine, even though western areas alone were affected.

Since October 19, 30 deaths, including one child, from "acute respiratory infections," were reported, at first called SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome, a serious form of pneumonia caused by a virus). Influenza A virus affects birds and some mammals like pigs.

ya.. swine flu is barely mentioned in the us. (and guess where a lot of it comes from) Of course news of new deaths which are symptomless.. are not at all reported in the US either. I mean, think about the economic repercussions!

I think the misunderstanding of swine flu and many other disease is the the general public only measures risk by current mortality rate and current symptoms. The problem is, the longer no measure is taken in the US, the more the virus will reproduce and evolve. The evolution process is the dangerous part since newer, more powerful strains will come out of the process, and weaker ones will die. Problem is, because of the acute pluralism in the US, for better or worse, it's impossible to reach a consensus, and so it's impossible to mobilize a large group of people to perform a collective act. (increase hygiene in subways, wear masks if sick, etc) Especially if the visible stats are as "tame" as the swine flu. I'm sure it'll be different if people were dying left and right.

Health ministry proposes prolongation of quarantine
KYIV, November 11. /UKRINFORM/. The Health Ministry of Ukraine pointed out a fall in the number of flu and acute respiratory virus infection cases, First Deputy Health Minister Vasyl Lazoryshynets told a news briefing.
“The number of patients is decreasing. The downward tendency is observed every day,” he said noting if earlier up to 160,000 new cases of the disease were fixed a day, now it is 35,000 - 50,000.
The deputy minister also said the number of people taken to intense care wards reduced by 115, and those undergoing artificial ventilation of lungs by 5.
Yet, he emphasized, the epidemic situation has not yet returned to normal.
“To my mind, it is necessary to prolong the quarantine,” he said adding the last say is with the chief health officer.
As of November 9, the number of flu and ARVI patients was 1.031 million, the health ministry reported.

Ukrainian organizations in Canada have today issued an urgent appeal to the Canadian public and government for assistance in combatting the serious explosion of severe acute respiratory illness that has struck Ukraine in the past week and now affects over 900,000 people, with some 40,000 people now hospitalized.

Flu pandemic has reached critical proportions in Ukraine

Appeal to combat H1N1 pandemic

TORONTO, Nov. 8 /CNW/ - The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) and the Canada Ukraine Foundation (CUF) are appealing to the Prime Minister of Canada to direct Canadian foreign aid funding immediately toward humanitarian aid to help the Government of Ukraine to fight the increasing global H1N1 flu pandemic.

"I have requested that the Prime Minister of Canada designate a portion of foreign assistance funding toward immediate humanitarian medical aid to help Ukraine fight the H1N1 flu pandemic", stated Ukrainian Canadian Congress President, Paul Grod. "As the pandemic spreads across Ukraine, pushing into the European Union, I urge the Prime Minister, on behalf of all Canadians, to generously donate funds and medical supplies to combat this deadly virus. What impacts Ukraine, and Europe, affects Canada."

The World Health Organization reports the pandemic now covers 14 Oblasts (Provinces), including Kyiv, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, and Kirovograd, all of whom now exceed World Health Organization (WHO) standards for epidemic status. In the last 48 hours, the number of persons sick with serious respiratory illnesses has exploded from 250,000 to almost 900,000, and 37,031 children under 18 years old have been reported ill, with nearly 40,000 people hospitalized.

sorry, virii doin't work like this. they also don't necessarily become more virulent over time, in fact usually the opposite....

however a live virus vaccine is an excellent way to incubate a virulent strain...

It came out that during the 1918 outbreak, doctors were prescribing huge doses of aspirin which could kill you. I'm not saying the flu is nothing to worry about. I'm sure eventually some tragic epidemic will come along.

of course it will.
current vaccine, gene splicing projects and handling of dangerous cultures(ship the 1918 flu via UPS. great idea!) make that inevitable. why worry?

and how do they decide that all these thousands are infected with this virus? it takes quite sophisticated tests to verify, but they just go by symptoms. anyone with any flu must have the killer disease....

scary eh kids?

right! the ones that are calling it "viral pneumonia", which sounds scary, but is not a disease, but a description of a symptom(pneumonia, the filling of the lungs with fluid).

hey, who knows? the Israelis(!) seem to have the LAPD(!!) disappearing a guy who's talking about weaponised virii(figures it'd be all of these players), right out of a Club of Rome script!

all signs point to an attempt to create widespread panic. deadly flus just don't exist in nature. if the people in charge cared, super virii would never exist. best do what you can to stay healthy, and stay out of the clinics...or just keep doin' watcha like!
