Cheers Kylie
I had my best sleep since the accident last night and I'm going to spend the morning installing Trilian, then playing about with it.
It's a shame but I won't be able to have a drink with you becuse of the medication, but I'll have one once things improve.
Enjoy your Dalwhinnie :)

I'm back on meds too, so no Dalwhinnie for me either. I'll make up for it when the family has recovered from all that illness...

All what illness?

Hope it's not too serious if the whole family has it.

well, bad cold for the most of us. and I add bad headaches to that. kids will be with my parents for the next week, so maybe we can recover meanwhile.
and get through an uninterrupted gospel concert, of course.

well, no smell or taste over here, still, but the concert was great. we had a choir from hungary as guests, and they did an evening performance together with ours, as well as the morning service.
I had a great time watching them all (for I am just the pa / mix guy ;) ), but it was 2 days of much work and less sleep...
didn't hear the final mix yet, since the 24track isn't mine, but expect it to be there "soon" (and then send it to hungary, for they're eagerly waiting).

Sounds great Kylie

We went to a choir concert in an old abbey in Scotland when we were last up there (the broken ribs holiday!!).
It was amazing as a lot of the music was centuries old and the composer was a Scot named Carver. Not content with SATB, he wrote in 10 parts and it needed 2 choirs.
Very complex and difficult at times but the acoustics were out of this world.

Oh it must be lovely just to be the mix guy in church, 2 days of hard work or not. I think I'd rather do that than the preaching side. And of course, everyone has said "Well Neil, while you're stuck with your broken ribs, you can write a lot more sermons and preach more often"
Erm, sinful it may be, but I decided to play with my new toy Trilian instead

well, the church we usually have the concerts is very dry regarding acoustics. it's still some kinda "emergency church" after dresden was destroyed to a certain degree. it has a much smaller roof now than before, and it is planked with wooden panels from the inside.
we've been to the city with the other choir for some sightseeing, and when we made it into the cathedral they started a short excerpt from a song they performed together later that evening, and the reverb was astounding.
no comparison with what we had in the concert, but then, it is a huge building from the good old days, but like the famous Church of Our Lady it was damaged badly during ww2, although not that badly...

What beautiful buildings and what a wonderful restoration job on Die Frauenkirche.
How odd, because I was only watching a documentary about Coventry Cathedral a few weeks ago.

I remember the ruins of the Frauenkirche still being there when I moved to dresden in the early 90s. I couldn't imagine they would ever rebuild it, but they did, and it is really beautiful.

I have to call myself an idiot for not remembering this until now.....

I live in a town called Longton in Stoke on Trent, but I was born 2 miles away and lived there for 20 years - Dresden !!!!!

Weird eh?
