Unfortunately there were no more slots available, I've been told, event though some guys from my platoon gave up their airborne option from their contract. And yes, all who had the airborne option will ship to Vicenza, Italy (lucky bastards).

No offense to the media, but they are always quoting the Generals at the Pentagon and making sure that the world hears we are stretched thin. This a fairy tale I'm afraid. It's purpose is to encourage our allies to jump in Afghanistan with us.
My newphew has proven this to be true also. He bailed from UDT training, at least he tried, and he can't get any assignments he wants and waits for all specialized training.
So I don't care what the media and the internet say, everyone I speak to says the same story. We must be at record recruitment regarless of what we hear.
Anyway I am proud of you.
Boot Camp anywhere is the States is no easy ride. Maybe you should be glad you didn't have to see Kelly Hill, Damn near killed me and I was in excellent shape when I was 18.
Make Sure To Check In With Us,
Hooah.!!!!!!..

I didn't see the Kelly Hill but I've "marched" (I've had to run most of the time to keep up) up the so called "Stairway to Heaven" which is a steep and seemingly endless hill.
Here's a YouTube video from Ft. Benning from 2008.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SGV9CSKqxw&feature=fv
This is Foxtrot's Company first day, I was in the Charlie Company, same batalion, 1/50, (they didn't have to hold their duffel bags over their heads like we did...)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=du90B892 ... re=related
And the Gas Chamber experience:

This same company I was in but in 2007:

But I've read that the Department of Defense has reached it's recruitment goals 100% for the first time in 35 years (there's an article in Washington Post, I think).

I just hope you make it back alive and with all your limbs. These wars we are in are idiotic and it looks like we will be there forever like in Germany. America can't leave an occupation.

I think he said he was going to leave Iran not Afghanistan. He also said if we leave Iran and things get worse there, he's going back in!

That was a Freudian slip. He's going to invade Iran too. The armed services are a growth industry!

The CIA has already done that a long time ago.
We won't invade there, we just provoke them with our Subs off of their coastline and troops on both of their borders. Turkey is the largest best trained military in NATO and sits just above them, so I guess they get a little lonely sometimes....
The people of Iran already had a dry run with hardly any funding from the CIA. They already know what they are going to do next time.
Private security forces as in " Blackwater " a Cheney favorite, and thousands of well trained mercanaries will grab the Oil and gaurd the pipeline, but that's about it.
The reason we use those guys is because they can do as they wish in foreign lands w/o any worries. That's why we pumped Oil 24/7/365 x 8 years and not once worried about the pipeline.
They probably caught some guys, tortured them, then made them watch as they raped and killed their family. Naturually the insurgants were allowed to live so they could tell the others what happens when you mess with those Black Choppers and guys with Green faces.
This is no theory either.
Obama is pretty smart and wants to appear as if he knows nothing about foreign matters. The deal is he gets to do what he wants with Banks, Insurance companies, and Indusrty domestically, as the powers that be continue to work behind the scenes.
We just gave Pakistan Billions of dollars in " Aid ", and wow, all of a sudden they decided to go after the Taliban. If they lose, no biggie to Obama, he knew nothing about it......but if they win, Obama can take credit. His team is really smart, and as long as he plays ball w/ his backers and real bosses, he will get his way domestically. That's how it works in the real world.
Hopefully Bingo can go to the base in Dubai they're finishing up. We don't appear to be leaving the Middle East anytime soon....

It's a little too soon to judge his foreign policy overall. I hardly see how he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize even though I voted for him. He bombed Pakistan the first week in office.

Yes, lots, LOL
I've took a train ride from Chicago to Alburqueque and wore my ACUs (the Army uniform). The attention I drew it was almost unbearable. The train conductor shook my hand and everyone wanted to talk to me.
