Kontakt 4.0 Looks Cool If You Want Now

This is good news for fixing that ugly look that Kontakt has had forever.
Gigastudio is the record holder for just being the ugliest application ever made.
Scope and Bidule are great if you know the SDK.
But these programs are made for guys who don't want to build devices, but rather customize their looks.
I can now makr Kontakt look like anything I want.
Just having 8 x giant stereo meters like I use in Scope for stage is perfectr, and then to keep me interested I can do my own graphics using these apps.

Most people want this app to be implemented.

I have Komplete3 (which only has Kontakt 2.0, not 4.0)...wonder if it'll work???
I believe it's either time to give it the old college try...or just freakin' upgrade..

Kontakt 2.0 is the where you want to stay if 32bit is what you run.
And 4.0 is the app for Leopard and M$7 in 64bit.
2.0 is so stable and easy to use w/ Bidule or in standalone. Many guys who write Scripts are still writing for 2.0, so there's more maturity there.
NI takes all old copies out of circulation when they do upgrades. I wanted 2.0. but just kept buying instruments that used Player 2.0. Then when I heard 3.0 was coming I went to buy 2.0 and it was gone like a fart in the wind.....I mean overnight.... :o
So don't ever get rid of 2.0 or upgrade ( crossgrade ). It is the 32bit powerhouse. 3.0 and 3.5 are mere transitional periods, w/ missing ADSR parameters.etc.

NI now has Scarbee on their Payroll, who is probably the best sample developer around. He has been there from the start of Gigastudio but left for Kontakt 6 years ago. They have a lot of talent over there on payroll, so something's going on.
I have Scope doing exactly what I want, and Bidule is also smooth.
This new Kontakt capability just comes at the right time/
Now let's hope 4.0 grows to be stable like 2.0.....

Actually those beats are for white boys, cause no Brotha'd be caught dead using 'em.... :D
If you wanna hear some very cool urban beats try out the BeatKangz software. Most of the Brothas I roll with use MPC's and gots their own thang going...

that's going down in my classic lines. lol.

btw, even manhattan.. "hiphop shoppers" are referred to as "urban shoppers" at saks fifth ave. So if you buy expensive sneakers that don't suite your budget, that makes you an urban shopper, and I'm not sure if that's allowed in rural areas as well. If you shop lift a pair of sunglasses via swapping them with a fake one you brought in, that makes you quite a seasoned urban shopper. hehe.

  No lie there. At Bloomingdales the last time I was there I bought my gal one of those silver Ferrari jackets, so she had to wear it out, and as we left there must have been 6 store dicks demanding ID and reciept.... :o
None of them looked like cops but " seasoned urban shoppers " working off their shoplifting crimes via community service....
There's no place on Earth as urban as Manhattan.

Very true.
I should clarify that the street meaning of Urban in the States is usually equated with the Brotha's and their various unique cultures.
I believe NI was also reffering to that as I just don't see those " urban beats " correlating w/ Dubai or Shanghai......
Rapping in Mandarin reminds of Jackie Chan in Rush Hour..

"urban" means "black" and "black" means USA and to a lesser extent London or at least a member of the slave peoples stuck in the Americas. everyone else is just copying. if you ain't black or at least carrying a ghetto pass, you really ain't "urban".

"urban" is just a nice word for "nigger".

obviously, i'm not talking about the literal definition of "urban", but the definition of the euphemism, "urban". the inner cities are often the most neglected and rundown places to live. that's where the poor, "urban" folk are, and often they have darker skin. "urban beats"="black" beats with no subjectivity needed.

look, there aren't any "black" people either, if you want to be literal. the darkest skinned people are definitely very dark, but even then are not truly black. i live in the "urbs", not the sub-urbs and i can assure you, "urban beats" are not for "white" people. they must use teutonic beats and either growl like demons or wail like they're at the opera...

don't bother trying to fool me.....

there you go, something to properly narrow one's mind, a decision engine. now we're talking.

if only they'd used urban beats...

Here's some of the possibilities of customizing skins in Kontakt 4.0.

I still prefer the look of K3 over K4.
What's with the gloomy gray trend in GUI's these days?

Anyways, a great use of scripting is Gtak.

Great development for us MIDI guitarists. (Don't have to load multiple instruments for different channels).

It's Bells and Whistles IMHO anyway.
I would rather spend time as a musician than an artist, and the 128MB Sideport RAM mobo I am still considering will work fine as long as the GUI's footprint isn't 3D or fancy schmancy looking.
Some guys like this stuff, personally I like everything LARGE. It really helps if you are using the stuff for gigging.
I still get a kick out the Receptor guys around town. Tiny LCD's and the usual VST load times that guarantee to empty the dance floor.
This is the main reason I am really getting into Modular and larger RAM amounts.
I need to load once....that's it.
Kontakt is a fine app for samples, and Modular is a snap because everything is loaded with the patch.
I love JBowen synths, but Solaris in hardware will replace the Scope Bowen synths, so everything from here on out is Modular.
I really need to learn SDK so I can build what I need.

Yup, I'm only using Kontakt for some libraries that I have no time or chance of recreating in Scope.
Same goes for Omnisphere - which I'm barely using. (Anyone heard of a drinking game for every time someone hears an Omnisphere patch used in a TV commercial)?

Current trajectory for me is to go with laptop/Xite configuration for live gigs (and also live tracking). The rest will continue to be guitar/amp/effects.
No more VST's.
