I am using Midi controllers to automate
the aux sends in the LunaII recording mixer.

Often it happens to me that after reloading
a project the next day one of the
controller assignments is lost.

The problem seems not to be limited to a
specific controller number or a specific
aux send.

- Has anybody seen the same problem?
- Is anybody working successfully with
mixing automation?

thanks alot!

Daniel

I just wanted to ask again.. I tried it several times in different ways and the problem just does not disappear. To me this
looks clearly like a programming bug! I am
surprised nobody has experienced the same problem.

I think someone suggested to use the MIDI monitor very early in the MIDI-chain in your project to a user with a similar problem.

This should supposedly act as a sort of filter in the MIDI-signals, and may be able to help you.

Hope it works

I think the problem is not related to
corrupt midi data as in the posts you mentioned. Here is what happens in
detail:

- right click on a fader or pot in the mixer
opens a context menu.

- Now you can move any midi controller
connected to the system. The number of the
controller appears in the menu. By
clicking "+" the displayed
midi controller can be assigned to the
selected fader or pot.

- Alterningly it is possible to open a second
window where all midi controllers and
the corresponding assigned faders/pots are
displayed. Here it is possible to make an
assignment by double clicking on a
controller name.

All of this works perfectly so far. The
problem is that when I save the project,
restart the PC and reload this project
one of the controllers I defined is
"forgotten" by the software.

Another thing is that the software also
forgets the midi channel number selected
for the mixer after each reload of the
project.

I really would like to know if these are
specific bugs of the luna recording mixer
or whether it also happens on other mixers..

Hi,

I don't know about this, it works for me on the Pulsar and Scope mixers!

Well, only ONE MIDI channel can be assigned to all the automation mixer. So, normally, we seperated/dedicated one MIDI-port (16 MIDI-CH in omi mode) for it to solve the problem. And no matter what we do, there are only less than 120 CC for this automation mix, regardless of Luna, pulsar or Scope-SP! We definately need about 120-CCx16-CH; too bad that it has never worked that way! Buggy!!!

Just a reference, hope this helps,
LHong

So it seems to be a bug on the Luna
recording mixer only. Has any other Luna
user out there experienced this problem?

Did you implement a separate midimodule for controlling the mixer, like shown in the tips & tricks section? If not, do so. Everything should work d'accord then.

- yes i used a separate midi-module.

- i got a used pulsar board from a friend
in the meantime and found out that
the problem does not occur with the
big mixer! it's really related to
the luna recording mixer (release 2.5)

==> problem solved for me - but not for
all those who use a luna only..
