Hey all,Got an issue and don't know if it is Scope or Windows.Last Sunday i uploaded some apps i got from here for Scope to try them out, they were free ones designed by other users with SDK.
Anyway i was going to play a cd in in my computer to check out some backing tracks and the Real player said there was no audio device.I checked a few things but i am no computer wiz kid.The device manager has my two cards listed and working properly but when you check the audio window it shows no device. My computer guy set it back to the onboard sound card and it worked but no luck getting sound through the Scope cards.Any body run into this?We are thinking of doing a complete system reinstall.

Thanks

the first dumb question is, "is there a wav or 24bit wav source module connected in the routing window?".

Inside the Control Panel ...go to Sounds & devices & make sure you have the Scope Card selected as your default device. Windows can only use one or the other..not both.

Yes i have the source modules in the scope routing window.I never messed with those. In the control panel the scope card is listed as the default device but it does not show up in the volume tab of the manager.

Thanks

WOW...I'm in IT, & I don't use real player...try Windows Media Player..& see if you have sound. It could be an error w/ real player.

Now I'm more confused than Paris Hilton in a spelling bee

OOPS,I miss spoke its not Real Player. It is Windows Media Player. When i try to play the disk a window pops ups saying it can't play the cd because there is no audio device or it is being used buy another program.FYI my other cd player program will not play it either.I think its Power DVD or something like that.

Thanks

now I'm even more lost... Like Jerry Fallwell at a Gay Pride parade...

try removing both devices from the device manager, and re-installing them. Replace the drivers, do not re-use the original ones..and see what happens! Don't worry, you won't hurt anything..if it is done correctly..

Well we thought we got it but no go.I was setting my routing and windows crashed twice with the blue screen of death.I can play guitar great but i suck with computers.I know there is a lot of talk about mother boards and such, but how a bout some info on a solid configuration setup of scope? It seems like every time i try to add something my system gets fubar.Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

90% of blue screens are a hardware issue. Something is failing..likely to be RAM,IRQ, or motherboard. Check the settings of shadow RAM in the BIOS..and disable...or enable it...change to the opposite, of the current settings...outside of that..it might me an incompatible chipset or motherboard.

go to start/programs/accessories/system tools/system information/hardware resources/conflicts-sharing and tell me what, if anything is sharing an irq with your Scope card.

Gary the only thing sharing an irq is a via rev5 universal usb and a via usb enhanced controller. The Pulsar cards are on separate irqs.

Via chipset? yeeech....

blue screens and no shared irqs? that's a bad sign. blue screens indicate hardware failure. it could be power supply, ram, motherboard or video card. it's possible that it is still software and a os reinstall might help, but...you can try updating/reinstalling all your drivers, especially the motherboard and video drivers. also, you might check and see if there's an updated bios available. i'm not sure that that's suddenly your problem when it used to work, however. have you tried a new Scope project from scratch?

did you get the windows audio working again?

If your system don't work after moving it, check for board connection (PCI I mean). Sometime, you need to clean up the connector (particularly if it make a long time you installed it). Normally you should be able to check if it is a connection problem because your board will lose its clock setting. So Gary advise to check a project might help

cheers
