On a dual processor Athlon with a 64bit PCI bus?

as long as the 64bit-pci bus runs at 33mhz and not at 66, pulsar should work in it.
the software should have no problem with the chipset.
but i can´t really tell, i´m just a single-cpu user
btw, the host-cpu plus the sharcs on the board are something like a multi-processing solution, so why waste so much money on an expensive dual-cpu mainboard (cheapest one is afaik the tyan tiger for 350 €) and two expensive athlon MP?

have fun,
Mo

I use my pc for other things than pulsar. You need to have worked on a dual cpu to understand. The respons is way above a single cpu, even one faster than the sum of both. Also more and more softs are going that way.

yeah, the pulsar cards isn't so cheap either. the athlon MP is quite a bit cheaper than to buy a SRB with equal power. that doesn't say that pulsar doesn't have it's share of advantages though..

Hey Havoc...

what audio program do you use that is true Multithreaded?

I cannot use one as pulsar does not support operating systems that can use more as one cpu. But nuendo for instance does, and there is another one (cubase I think). Also under Linux there is multi processor aware audio stuff.

Havoc, sounds like you should sell your Pulsar and get a Hammerfall. Good luck!

I'll make up my mind once I tried V3, but a hammerfall is on the list. Can still use the pulsar for dither.

neither Nuendo or Cubase are true Multithread...

Have a nice day ...

I believe that Samplitude is multithread.

The New Cakewalk Sonar uses True Multi-Thread.

From their websight:
http://www.cakewalk.com/products/sr/faq-hardware.html

"Does SONAR support dual processors? Will I see a performance benefit?

Yes, SONAR supports dual processors in Win 2000. Having multiple processors allows SONAR to run different threads (operations) on different processors. Examples of threads are the user interface, disk input/output, effects, and to some extent the MIDI stream. Whether or not you see a performance benefit depends on factors like how many FX you're using in the project. But in general the average user will indeed see a difference between single and dual processor systems."

Howard

Too bad Pulsar isn't supporting WDM modeling yet. I'd be set instead of being in Pulsar Never Never Land.
