hi,

i bought the pulsar card with the pulsar 3 software a few years ago.

is it possible to use the "new" scope platform? i don't have a software key for this...

another question:
i have the behringer fca202 (external firewire sound card)
is it possible to get the input signal from this soundcard into the pulsar 3 software, in order to route it into cubase?
i cant find this input source in pulsar even though the behringer card is the standard windows device for recording.

i use win xp

yes, you can use the new software. v5 is about to be released. v4 is free. v5 will require an upgrade fee.

there is NO way for the Behringer card to interface with the Scope card except externally through analog, sp/dif or ADAT.

but there should be a way to play the output of the pulsar card with the behringer fca, isnt there?

i desperately try to do this:
play midi with cubase
hook a sampler on the signal in pulsar
listen to it with the behringer

is this even possible?
i get an output signal in pulsar and route it into the wav and asio dest.
but no response in windows whatsoever :(

Hi, there are "sound card src / dest" modules that you can use for that.
but, a stupid question, what do you want to use the behringer for? the scope card already has analog input / outputs which are far better :D

hi, thank you for your help :)

i cant find these "sound card dest" modules :(
but im still trying this with the pulsar 3 software, the scope 4.5 installer wants a whole list of registration keys i dont have :( (?) so i'm not able to install it.

i thought the signal would be better using the behringer card...
my card only has cinch in/out and digital
can i just buy this http://www.thomann.de/de/pro_snake_tpy_2003_brr.htm , plug my microphone in and record? or would i need a preamp? same for guitar?

Send an email to Ralf,

rb(at)soniccore.de (done to stop spambots - use an @ symbol)

with your card's hardware number and he can generate a new allkeys file that will work with Scope 4.0. Scope 4.0 is the same as 4.5, it just a few less devices.

The A/Ds on the Scope are almost certainly better than any Behringer product - there is a reason their stuff is so cheap. Yes you need some preamp for mic - but you would anyway - i have the XLR model but i still need a preamp as the connectors are for line level signals. The phono connectors will give more than good enough signal if you feed it the right thing. The inputs and outputs appear in the Scope window as "Analog Source" and "Analog Dest" modules - drag them from the "Hardware IOs" menu.

hi, already sent one to support(at)soniccore.de, hope this works too.

can i use my jamman (digitech) as preamp or will i get a considerably better result when i buy a mic preamp? can you recommend an inexpensive preamp?

thank you so much! :D

yes, you can use the Jamman. yes, a mic pre is better. the better the pre, the better the recording, in general. any inexpensive mic pre or mixer will work fine. if you want something good, but are on a budget, i always recommend the FMR RNP, but that's still $500 for two channels(it's good for instruments and voices).

your Scope card and computer are capable of quite high quality work if you are. i suggest only buying nice things, so that you only have to buy them once. but of course, it all depends on your intentions and needs...

hi,
i have bought some cables. it seems that i cannot plug headphones in the pulsar lineout.
to hear something i have to route it through an amp. :(
is that correct?

would a pc speaker set suffice?

with scope 4.5 i can now route the pulsar signal to the sound card, which can be the fca 202!
but after a few minutes the signal gets distorted. weird.

How are you listening to music at the moment? Do you not already own a hifi amp? You could very probably use that and also be able to plug headphones into it.
