cwm: Atze
Re: cwm: Atze
working ok on my 2 winxp 32 systems pci
Re: cwm: Atze
I have a windows 7 32 bit system with both an XITE and a PCI system.
The Xite is running scope v5.1 and Atze v2 works fine for me.
The PCI system is running Scope v4.5 and also here the Atze v2 works fine.
Maybe this is a 64 bit problem?
I really like this synth - Great job and thank you very much for sharing!

Re: cwm: Atze
Hmm the crossfading between preset variations seems to be, well not quite working as expected. It seems to "jump" to the next variation even though dez is set to max. Is it just me?
Re: cwm: Atze
OK, but Atze V1 works fine in my setup...
Re: cwm: Atze
Sounds like a folder is duplicated accidentally.
I had a slide 1U QWERTY as I always try to emulate hot shot IT guys, and the touch glide "mouse" did this w/o me even knowing.
A trained professional DAW builder was summoned and showed me the problems.
I now have digressed to an old fashion cheap QWERTY and mouse that cost 3 bucks.
Sometimes Less Is More
As brotha' man at0m taught us.

Re: cwm: Atze
OK, I checked the "dezip control for smooth blending between variations" again tonight, and it doesn't seem to work as expected.
I would expect it to work like this:
1. When I change from variation 1 to 2 (or any other) it would start a smooth transition between all parameters whereever there is a change
2. How long this transition is should determined in by the dez-control (in ms/frqDiv, if possible would be cool!)
It seems to be working more in this manner on Atze1
Right now what I'm experiencing is that the dez-control jumps from 0 to 500
And I don't really hear any smoothing of the transition until dez is set to 990+
I think there might be a bug here!?
It's a super cool expressive feature, so I hope it's possible to fix this (or explain to me how it works if I'm wrong here)

Re: cwm: Atze
Hi Petal and all,
yes these jumps are caused by different pitch settings.
in AtzeV2, I removed the pitch modulators of all oscs, because
1) coarse settings had been imprecise and 2) it costs about 1/2 dsp per voice.
What can be done if you want different pitch settings per variation:
use the same pitch (and detune) but alter the level settings, like
(osc1) var1: coa0-level100 -> var2: coa0-level0
(osc2) var1: coa8-level0 -> var2: coa8-level100
sorry, with this method you can listen to only 8 oscs max at the same time, but it works.
and check the
Atze v2 update:
-fixed one of the oscs which didn't work
-better level dezips. I had to remove the random level feature for that, but I think this is negligible
-level digits reflect actual (dezipped) values
-different dezip pre-settings

Hi Roy,
The update link is still pointing at the first v2 of Atze.
I went to your webpage and found the new version of v2.
I'll check it out now.

Re: cwm: Atze
Well, it is better now, but I still think the dez and the buttons work in a peculiar way.
fx what do I need all the values between 0-9980 for? there's not much use for them the way it works now or am I missing something?
Also, if I press the top button (minimal) and then the button just below (soft1), all sounds stops and fade in slowly!?
I noticed this as well, while jumping between some of the variations but I couldn't find the pattern here.!?
Hmm. It also seems like if you automate fx the cutoff freq and control it from your sequencer, any change is affected by the dez setting. This doesn't seem right. Shouldn't the dez-control only affect the transition time between the 8 variations and only these? Not any change made to any parameter, which seems to be the case now?
To me it would make more sense if the dez could be dialed in with the number of ms you wanted and if you had the option to chose sync + frqDiv. The latter option would enable me to produce rythmic correct fades between variations. I would really love to be able to do that

Re: cwm: Atze
Hi petal,
you are right, the dezip feature is not optimal.
but to get real snooth, controllable fades there has to be a different circuit, not with (async) dezip but (sync) crossfades. while this is far more expensive dsp-wise, it would definately be cool.
I'm already working this out. it's not as easy as it looks, but I think I know how it can be done. This is something for Atze V3.

Hi Roy,
Fair enough - Atze 3 it is then
There's still this issue though, that seem as a bug to me:

Shouldn't the dez-control only affect the transition time between the 8 variations and only these? Not any change made to any parameter, which seems to be the case now?
Does the behavior I'm trying to describe here make sense?
Cheers,
Thomas

Just had a joyful meetup with Atze again tonight.
Atze is out of this world - I love it!
Thank you Roy

Agree, atze is a beautiful synth for the platform..
Thank you Roy.
Thank you Roy.
Not because it is easy, but because it is hard...
