I Wanna PSY-Q - can I get unbundled ?

I want a PSY-Q - but I dont need the compressors and other stuff in the Mix & Master 598EUR pack.

Am I wrong, or is the PSY-Q not available seperately in the S/C online shop ?

If so, why is this the case, since all the devices in the Synth and Sampler Pack seem to be available seperately - what am I missing here ?

Not really - thanx for offer but I only have the bog standard stuff or stuff I want to keep, like the transient designer, marshall dynatubes and nicholas chowcrown multiband compressor.

I have PSY-Q.

What is it? I'm away from that location and can't try it and can't find in SonicCore online shop.

I've never used it and not likely to.

Eric.

psy q is an excellent exciter / bass booster
i use it on vocals and in my mastering chain before optimaster

it's worth a look, indeed...

Eric, thank you for your interest. I am awaiting a reply from Ralph ( re unblundling ). When I know his price Ill get back to you. I note the Mix & Master 2 pack price is 600 Euro which contains 6 plugins, so as a baseline Im expecting something around 100 euro, which could be around $200 AUS ( Im in Melbourne) - expensive.

Regarding Ralf you cannot split packages up and sell seperate plugs.

That's unfair. :o It's like FOXTEL her in Aus. Bundle up stuff no-one would otherwise want with a few goodies and call it a package!

Hope we can split it.

Eric.

Ralph quoted me $149 Euros for PSYQ standalone. Thats $286.75 AUS at current exchange rate - expensive seeing I already have some mastering gear.

Anyone know how good it is ? I spose I could always try the demo version since thats now possible, but some real user feedback would be informative.

I already have an outboard 3 band multiband compressor hooked via Pulsar SPDIF and a 3rd party creamware bass enhancer plug.. I read that this PSYQ helps top end as well & maybe usefull in-line for vocals as well as mastering duties....?

well, it was 199,- in the old CW shop, so it's actually a discount ;)
if you don't own Scope 4.5 yet, you might consider upgrading for 199 EUR and get (depending on your type of card) the full mix and master pack or even both packs.
please note that this is not applicable if your card is a luna or whatever 3dsp card!

see http://www.sonic-core.net/en/products/scope45.html for details.

Yeah Ive only got Scope 4.0 running on a total on 12 DSP's ( Pulsar + Luna + Luna ) - so the 4.5 upgrade would probably be the best value for $$$ option - Thanx for the suggestion. I was actually holding off that upgrade to skip to 5.0 but thats vapourware at the moment, so PSYQ & the others bundled in the 4.5 upgrade might tip the scales....

Ive got PSYQ demo keys from Ralph so will check out ova the weekend....

If I am not mistaken, buying the 4.5 upgrade will give you the 5.0 for free...

that's right. vaporware or not, once it's there you have the 5.0 license in the drawer if you get 4.5 right now.
maybe it's a good idea to buy right now, since I assume there will be no 4.5 upgrade anymore once 5.0 is there. you will be able to upgrade to 5.0, for sure, but nobody knows whether the bundles are still the same or not...
dante, be sure to choose the right card for the upgrade since it has to be the 6dsp model (otherwise you won't get the bundle if you license it to one of your lunas by accident).

Ok - the verdict. I got the 5 hour PSY-Q demo. A few points :

1) I wonder what 5 hours means ? I went to the shop for an hour with my project loaded but idle, I wonder does that count or is it five hours of actual signal processing time ?
2) PSY-Q is very good for top end - different from EQ coz with EQ you select a frequency but with PSY-Q it seems to know what frequencies are in the top end of the mix and tweaks them, sort of like exciting the high transients.
3) For bottom end, I prefer 'TubeTaper' - since it puts a nice boomy sort of sustain on kicks and bass notes...sorta like - umm tube compression but a bit more.... :)
4) As mentioned before, better value to put the $$ towards 4.5 upgrade (for the Pulsar not the Luna ... thanks Kylie) than spend most of same price on a single plug. And yes, thats a ticket to 5.0 ( vapourware or not )....

So if Im hooked after the 5 hours that means I'll be 'forced' to the 4.5 upgrade...which just leaves the problem of justifying the $$ to the other half.... heh. Gone are the pre-mortgage days of spending $500AUS on a single plug as simple as say transient designer without batting an eyelid or even a demo....

you can still demo the other plugs, provided you have enough time. ;)
