Anyone have any demos of BFD in a Scope project?
I am really interested in this product and was hoping some guys here use it.

i have BFD 2 but have yet to actually use it in a product, so can't give you any examples. It's a really deep program now and i haven't got to grips with it, but the sounds are superlative - and i haven't even got the expansions yet (i want some Evil Drums, Percussion and 8-Bit Kit, but until i get to grips with it there's no point wasting money).
My intention is to use it two ways:
1. Just in stereo/16 bit (eases RAM overhead) whilst writing a track
2. When getting closer to the final mix bussing kicks and snares (maybe other stuff) and leaving cymbals in stereo buss and routing all that to Scope. However some of the compressors, bit crushers and other effects are actually pretty good built into BFD2, so hopefully a lot of sound design work can be done before i hit Scope.
With a high spec machine you should have no problem with the streaming samples. i have a dual 3GHz PC 2GB RAM and don't have any problems.
i'm away for Christmas, but when i get back i'll try and do a demo using the built in grooves and presets to make it quick.

dude ...
I use the BFD... it is incredible..
need more of the expansion packs myself. But when using it with scope it is wonderful.
I honestly doubt there is a better drum rompler out there ATM.
Its just like using a real kit in terms of the way I think about it on mixer. With individual mics.. overheads and room mics, all which can be fed to seperate ASIO channels and thus each get their own mixer tracks in scope. Works great.
And as already said, the actual samples are amazing. Huge detail.
All round I think you'd really enjoy it. Especially knowing how you love to send sounds through AUX busses, with more fx on em than am Angelina Jolie movie.... hehe

Yeah JV, combine BFD2 with Jamstix and you'll really piss off the local stickmen

Alrighty then,
This will have to be had. I'm going to NAMM so I can visit their booth also.
I recently heard the Steven Slate drums which from what I understand will be a future expansion pack also.
I've been using LSAD for Gigastudio so long I can't stand the sounds anymore. Every VDAT track I have uses it, and an expansion ( replacement ) is needed.
I hope there are those niftyu Buzz and Press rolls w/ keysyitches placed close to the other snare samples on a layout.
Jamstix looks pretty sweet too.
Thanks Guys,
Happpy Holidays and a festive New Year.

BFD2 standalone mode has only 1 stereo out at the moment. More to come according to FXpansion when they get round to it. Holding one's breath is probably not advisable. Host mode has 8 stereo(including 1 master out) + 16 mono out. So if one wishes to use BFD2 standalone with Scope, instead of hacking a path through the undergrowth in the host, kit FX will have to be done in BFD2 environment. No bad thing as BFD2 FX and routing is very good. Breverb just added along with a few other bibs and bobs. Jamstix + BFD2 has to be used within host as Jamstix is VSTi. Jampercussion, recently added is cute.
Standalone BFD2 will slave only to MTC.
"Sync to MTC
Enabling the Sync to MTC function results in the BFD2 standalone application responding to MIDI timecode in order to synchronize with another device. You must make sure that the currently enabled MIDI ports include the port on which the MTC is being transmitted. The standalone application can only sync to an external MTC source. It cannot send out its own MTC or other sync methods such as MIDI clock. If you need such functionality, please use BFD2 in a suitable host that supports these features."
Go ye not into battle without the Evil Joe's which are les orchestrals du chiens. Rails's stuff is much better than Slate's in my not so humble opinion.

Ankyu.
I heard some of the newer SSD stuff done with a Model 7 which isn't out of BETA I guess, but I imagine I will be buying everything available once I start using this in a couple of months.
I appreciate your tips and experience using it.
I will be using C4 as the host, and VDAT for playback.
I have been getting along fine w/ what I have, but after 8 months of making drum tracks and using the same sounds day in and day out I need some help.
BTW are there good percussion expansions for BFD?
I am hoping to have an all in one app and stop having to dump to VDAT prior to percussion tracks.
Cubase 4 just can't handle excessive MIDI tracks w/o slight drop outs. It's fine until I start adding more than a couple.
As Clint Eatwood said in Dirty Harry.........." An app's gotta know it's limitations."
Thanks Brotha' Man NS.

I ain't got it as my perc needs are simple. There's the odd tamb, cowie and shaker floating about in amongst the BFD2 kits anyway. Also I purloined the Jamcussion stuff
http://www.rayzoon.com/jamcussion.html which is very good. I prefer it to the BFD2 addon. Also 1/4 the price. The main Jamstix prog is required. But that's cheap too. 79 Gringo's at the moment. Jamstix stock kits are good in their own right. Very raw and need lots of processing.
Jamstix is not to be underestimated. It looks like a total dog's breakfast but is a very complex and unique little prog. Well worth the the cash. It has become very stable.

Just got a couple of demos mixed in Cubendo to mp3............
And here I thought I had the shit.
Using LSAD / GVI into Scope effects and mastering to VDAT using hardware reverb does sound damn nice. But BFD is just a monster that has been upgraded and developed for a long enough time that it's definately the first thing I'll get after XITE-1 arrives next summer........sorry, just pokin' a little fun, I'll have it soon enough.
I am reading some manuals on the GUI and some sequencing tricks, storage patterns, etc.
It appears to be a very dynamic axe.
Lot's of sounds, which is imperative, and so many tools and developers it reminds me of our beloved Scope.
Some Lass from Germany sent me the mp3's.
Came w/ 4 versions.
No effects.
Effects.
In a mix w/ other instruments.
Then a master w/ vocals, which BTW sounded really good.
This has got to be purchased.
Thanks Brotha's and Sista.
